Yay. office has a delayed opening thanks to the snow! So sick of the snow, but I'm happy to have some time off from work.

What's the weather doing right now where you are at?

We're supposed to get a little snow tomorrow, not much.  It's supposed to start warming up today and it's supposed to get above freezing by next week even up in the 40s.  All this snow is now packed and icy.  I have already taken a nasty fall.

14-18" of snow predicted. We have about 12" now. Heavy winds, too.

Right now it's crisp and bright at minus 18C, or 0 F.

We're expecting snow all day Friday and Saturday.

Beautiful and sunny here!
That's because we NEED the snow, so we won't get any!  50's until Sunday then predicted to be 62! Looks like 50's and 60's into next week too. It sure makes your outlook better with these temperatures!

Yeah, we NEED rain here so it's not happening....we got some rain last weekend but not nearly enough to make a dent in the drought problem.  It's supposed to be around 70° here today and the next couple of days.
Maybe a bit more rain on Sunday if we're lucky.

You all keep warm!

It's actually sunny today. It's going to warm up to -3C. It's a long weekend coming up, and we are supposed to get a snow storm.

Windy, rainy, and cold here. We've had really high winds the last two nights - the Juan de Fuca Strait is some kind of wind tunnel. It's still sort of windy but should calm down during the day (I think).

Does anybody live in Virginia?
A friend of mine sent me a video of around his house with the snow coming foent
It was so hot here today. Ridiculous for February.
We're very low on water here and we've a bad drought. It'll be awful in summer having to save water etc.
The Sea of Galilee needs more water. It's too low.
So what's today's question?

It's cloudy and windy!  We had snow turn to rain overnight.  Things were a slushy mess this morning from what I heard.  I have no plans to leave the house!  It's getting brighter out every now and then too.

It snowed here yesterday and it was a total disaster. My university shamed itself. The weather service and the state government warned that it was going to hit hard and fast at noon. And it did. My school didn't cancel classes until 1 and didn't close the university until 2. They shut the buses down without warning, so I had to walk a mile to my car, then it was gridlock. It took me 45 minutes to get out of the parking lot. I thought it was because the light cycle wasn't dealing with all the traffic coming out. Once I got onto the highway, I realized it was because dozens of vehicles had swerved off the road, people had crashed into one another, cars were abandoned in the ditches, the median, and in the middle of the road. An 18-wheeler had shutdown straddling the dividing line, so traffic had to maneuver around each side of him.

This was what it looked like all over the area. The roads weren't adequately prepared and everyone seems to have waited until it got bad to close, so the roadways were packed! There were car fires around the city, hundreds of cars had to be abandoned when roadways became completely blocked by disabled and otherwise abandoned vehicles. People were opening up their homes to people who became stranded. The whole thing was very post-apocalyptic in how it looked.

I honestly don't understand how it happened. I have an old Honda Civic and had no problems driving in those conditions. Slow and steady. Pretty simple. But people here just lose their minds when the winter weather gets bad. One guy in a little "souped up" (not really, but you could tell that is the look he was aiming for) Civic was going nuts in front of me. He was flooring the gas and just spinning, barely moving but swerving when he did. I watched as he turned the wheel left and right, hard, over and over again. No telling what the hell he was thinking. He may have ended up on fire, the way he kept flooring it. I don't know, though. I got around him as quick as I could, merged around all the disabled vehicles, which were alternately blocking both lanes. I don't know how many more people got out behind me, but I doubt it was many.

A friend of a friend took this pic on her attempted drive home. This is what it looked like on the road I had to get through, but without the fire. I believe the woman who took this had to abandon her vehicle.

Been snowing since about 2am.  When I got up at 7ish (working from home today), snowflakes were the size of salad plates :D

I think we've gotten about a foot already.  Tom was out there shoveling for a couple of hours to get a head start before it changes over to an icy mix.  Then the third wave comes and more snow will fall.

Need a vacation badly but first I have dental and knee surgery to get out of the way.

Spring only 34 days away!  (trying to be optimistic).

No snow here, but plenty of rain. It's currently 41°F/5°C, and should go down to freezing tonight. Our winter has been mild thus far.

People who are in areas that aren't used to this stuff usually have problems driving in this stuff, even in areas where people should be used to it there are the ones that are fools on the road.  I usually don't have too many problems but I don't like driving in it.  I can't do anything about one of the fools sliding into me.  I was just out and the car said it is 36 F and the sun is shining, it's been a while since it's been this warm  Some of this stuff is actually melting.

I have to call BCBS in Virginia for policy numbers and they had a recording at the beginning about being short staffed because of severe weather.  I have to talk to someone rather than use the automated system and the recording said the wait could be longer than usual but I got right through.

Actually, Israel is one of my dream trips.  Both me and my BF are really interested in world religions, it would be so incredibly interesting.  Plus, you know, "my people" lol

One of my bosses goes at least once a year, sometimes more.  He loves, loves, loves it there.
