Been doing internet research on this. I had no idea there were different types of meningitis. Annette said last night that every time someone even touched Shya she would scream, reading up on this I found that this is normal and that the entire body hurts. Annette thought her daughter was just being stubborn. Kev if you can send me to a website, it would be appreciated. Again they do not know what type she has yet.

OMG! I'm so sorry! A long time ago they thought I had menegitis while I had the chicken pox cause I was so sick, they came and gave me a spinal tap and boy oh boy, I wouldnt' wish that on my worst enemy! it turned out that I didn't it was just because I was stuck in bed for so long that my back started to bother me very badly . can you imagine being awakened every hour by people in yellow suits? Form what they told me it was because I was "contagious" and they needed to be in suits to keep from getting it. that was scary since at first I didn't know what was going on and they wouldn't let my mom be in the room BECAUSE they thought it was contagious! Stupid doctors here! I swear! I don't know why my mom didn't sue them for stupidity but what can you do???
Tell her to be brave and I'm keeping in my thoughts. I want her to get better quickly!

MA,

My son had VIRAL meningitis when he was about 4 years old. He had severe case of Roto (sp?) virus and the virus got worse and worse and proceeded to cause swelling on the brain, which is what meningitis really is I think. Viral is not contagious, like the bacterial kind, but he also had a spinal tap, etc. However, there is nothing you can really do to 'cure' a virus and you have to let it run its course.

He was in intensive care for a few days but I just wanted to post
to let you know that he came through it just fine! I am not sure which kind she has, but I will pray that she will come through it OK!!

Oh my, I hope she gets better soon. I dont really know anything about meningitis, except they say the bacterial is the worst. I know that here in Savannah there have been numerous reports of the viral kind in the last few weeks here in young children in school. I know an adult who had the viral kind and it took her a while to get over it.
Just wanted you to know she will be in my thoughts and prayers.

no we called a few times but there isn't any answer. I don't want to call her cell phone, I see that as a great interruption as she is tending to her daughter.

Thank you all for your thoughts-

Shya was released to her parents tonight. She has to be watched closely and she cannot become dehydrated, but she is back with the family now (thank God) Her sister is throwing her a tea party to encourage her to drink, as she seems to have no interest in liquids or food.
