Hello guys,

My 9 months old kitten has suddenly started showing weird behaviour. First off he didn't have his evening meal. Then an hour ago when I called him for dinner he didn't come out. So I went and grabbed him. He was lying there motionless with his pupils dilated and his tongue sticking out and drooling a little bit. I don't know what to do. I can't help him there are not vets at this hour here in Karachi. Can anyone please help me. I would be extremely thankful and grateful.

Honey, I just don't know!  He may have had a stroke but he's awfully young for that.  All I can suggest is that you keep him warm and rest him in a box or bed with his head slightly elevated (to prevent choking) until you can hopefully get him to a vet in time.  I'll be praying for you both, and best of luck with him.

is there a 24 hour emergency vet near by? How about a shelter, they may be able to get help.

There isn't. I live in Karachi, Pakistan. There are no 24hours veterinary emergency services neither are there any shelters. I just don't know what am I supposed to do.

I know exactly what you are saying. That's what I don't understand he's far too young to have a stroke. I don't know what am I supposed to do. :(

my first thought is he got into something he shouldn't and poisoned himself.
Where did you adopt him from? Try calling the original owner and see if they have ideas?

I don't even let them go outside. I have quite a big grassy garden outside of my house but even then they only go outside supervised. But it could be a possibility. I have had him for 8 months along with the other three. His next vet visit is scheduled for day after tomorrow for his vaccination. But this condition is worrying me like crazy. I don't know. Just pray and if you find anything let me know please.

I'll be extremely thankful.

Is the cat still in the same situation? Has it come around? Did it respond when you picked it up? Could be poison or a seizure, or a fall.

My cat had a fall off the bed (she sleeps very deeply) and knocked herself out when she hit the floor. She was lying on her side with her mouth and eyes open, not breathing as far as I could tell. If your cat is fine now, but a bit whoozy, maybe it did knock itself out. Still ... CALL EVERY VET IN THE PHONE BOOK UNTIL YOU GET ONE THAT HAS EMERGENCY INFORMATION ON THEIR VOICEMAIL.

I googled this: Karachi Sindh Pakistan Animal Emergency Clinic. It's listed on a website providing 24-hour service.

Try contacting the Pakistan Animal Welfare Society or go on their Facebook and ask if there are any vets who offer emergency service in your area.

I would think the likeliest thing is poison of some kind. Could he have got into some chemicals? Cleaning fluids? Car antifreeze? Potted plants? Kittens will often try all these things. But there is nothing anyone can do online. But in preparation for a vet look ro9und your house very carefully and see what he could have eaten or drunk and if you find anything open or missing or chewed then take it with you to the vet so they will know how to treat it. Some poisons need the system washing out, some need injections of antidote, so don't try anything yourself.

Good luck, I hope you make it to a vet in time

I also am thinking some sort of poison? Something he got into that has made him very sick. At 9 months of age, kittens will just about eat anything. Do a thorough search of the home. Adding in my vibes for your kitty tonight and hope he will be alright and you make it to the vet in time to help him. :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Could be some sort of poison or it could be a seizure or something like that.  Some feline diseases will cause dilated pupils.  There are no 24 hour clinics in your area?  This kitty needs a vet ASAP.

Thanks a lot everyone for your help. I just got back from the VET and Fuzzy is doing better than yesterday. The vet told me he had some stomach infection which caused him to dehydrate. He gave him some electrolytes and now he's walking and meowing again. When I asked the vet if he had eaten anything poisonous he said it could be a possibility. But I am relieved and now I can sleep properly. Thanks for all the help everyone.
