Hello there TCS,

I am a new cat owner, just got my first kitten a week ago now. I got him from a local shelter in my area, and I'm so excited for the years to come of watching my little man grow up.

I adopted a 3 month old orange tiger striped kitten. I think it's a tabby? I don't know much about cat breeds.

(Sorry for the reusing of my profile pic but he's kinda camera shy.)

I have named him Hobbes. When I got him he slept for 3 days so I took him to the vet. Turns out my poor little kitten has a raging case of coccidiosis and an eye infection from cat herpes.

Since then I've administered his two antibiotics and eye cream twice a day. He's been acting much happier, meowing, running about like a kitten should and not sleeping near as much.

I'll probably be asking a lot of questions as he's my first kitten so I'm sure all you fine feline lovers know how worried first time car owners can be. Over protective mode, initiate! :3

Anyway, I'm pleased to meet you all and hope to talk soon. If anyone has any advice on how to help a cat with coccidiosis / eye infections please let me know! Thanks a bunch. Take care.

~Misty.

Hello and welcome! What a cutie pie you have there! :) my newest cat is also a tabby (profile pic) and you are right he is a tabby. :)

Thank you for saving this little guy's life!

I'm sort of new here myself and already I've learned so much. I have owned cats my entire life but being on here these past few weeks I've learned more in that time! So ask as many questions as you want, the only silly questions are the ones we never ask. :)

Hi there!

Thank you for your kind welcome.

Your tabby is quite beautiful. How have you found the breeds personality? More of a lap cat or more independent?

I know isn't he an adorable little guy? When I saw him at the shelter and I had to have him. I love his golden eyes, too. So beautiful.

Out of all the cats you've owned over your life do you have a breed that's been your favorite?

Take care and thanks again.

Little Mr. Hobbes is adorable! He is indeed an orange tabby, and a very handsome one at that. What a lucky guy he is that he found such a wonderful home.

Your first kitten and within a week you have to administer both eye meds and oral meds. You're getting quite an introduction into cat care already. You're fantastic for taking such good care of him and I'm so glad he is getting better. I wish you both a long and happy life together.
We'll look forward to seeing more of that cutie pie so I hope he gets over that camera shy stuff.

Welcome aboard, Misty! Hobbes is a sweet little kitten 9and aren't kittens so much fun to have?). I once had a '"Hobbes" and miss him terribly.

I figure if Hobbes and I can make it through this, we can make it through anything, right?

I also snapped another picture of him whilst he was up on my banister, but he is one fast kitten.

How'd you get so many great pictures of your cats?

Thank you thank you! You know what they say, great minds name felines alike! (Haha)

I'm so sorry for your loss, though.

He's fantastic. Kittens are so curious and playful, though I can't wait for the eventual evolution into a big teddy bear lap cat.

Do you find kittens retain their personalities into adult hood or is it something the changes drastically over the years?

It's been a while since I've had any kittens so I forgot how hard it is to get them to hold still long enough to get a picture!
He really is so cute. Looks like he owns the joint in that last picture. Don't you love how the stripes on his legs match?
