My cat Mr Jinx is 15 yrs old. I switch from Iams cat food to Rachel Ray dry cat food thought it would be just as good. . Didn't put to and to together, but he would throw up until nothing is in his belly. Yellow green color throw up. He has loss a lot of weight, just really this weekend we realized. Husband went to the store 4:30 am and went to get some fancy cat food in the can . He did lick and ate some of it.
He is so week right not but good.
Well we found out yesterday my cat had a large mass in his abdomen. Vet said probably was cancer. We decided to have him put to sleep. Such a hard decision to make. He had gotten where he was not eating anything and lost so much weight so he is not suffering anymore .

Oh I'm so sorry for your loss.

It's one of the hardest decisions there is but you did it to save him from pain and illness. No, he is not suffering anymore. He's over at the bridge playing with all of his new friends. He will never forget all the years of love and friendship that you shared. He will always love you and now he will watch over you.

Please feel free to start a thread in the Crossing the Bridge forum so others can express their condolences. We are all here for you.

DO NOT BUY THIS FOOD!  My cat, Stewie, has sensitive digestive issues.  He is now at the vet being treated for clogged bowels and dehydration.  He started by throwing up the food for two days.  The vet said that the bad quality of the food caused the bowel tract to become blocked and backed up.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope that the treatment works and he is back to normal quickly.

Were you feeding the dry food from this brand, the wet or both?

If this is what the vet said, you should contact the manufacturer and let them know.

Kat0121, that's a good point.

Our results with Rachael Ray Nutrish have been very positive but Stewies Mom and any other customer who thinks the brand caused severe problems should report their concern to the manufacturer ASAP.  Hope Stewies Mom can tell us which formula is the possible cause.  My gal enjoys both the chicken and the salmon formulas.

1st off what were you feeding the cat before the Rachel Rays food? What our vet said you HAVE to take at least 1/2 of a bag of the previous food & mix in the new food together to keep them from getting the runs. NEVER stop them cold turkey unless there is a recall & you don't have a choice.   We have 2 RagDolls & they were having issues with upchucking &  we switched to the Chicken & Brown Rice & have had no problems, but we also mixed the 1/2 bag of previous food into the new bag & they got a bit of both

I have tried almost all premium and near-premium canned foods for our 6 month old kitten. I tried every kind of Blue Buffalo canned kitten food and she just licks the sauce and leaves the rest of the pate'. The only canned food she really likes is Rachel Ray Nutrish, specifically the Tuna. She will lick the bowl clean.

So this is what I will continue to feed her as it is the only canned food that she will eat regularly. I also keep a full bowl of Blue Wilderness Kitten food for her to eat in between meals.

I made the decision to give our kitty wet food after our 9 year old cat died of Kidney Failure and, from what I have read, an all dry diet can contribute to kidney issues.

My poor Whisper was wilting away and I made the tough decision to have her put to sleep instead of watching her suffer. We were all there with her in the room and I was petting her as they administered the medicine to put her to sleep.

It is one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. I still find myself wondering if she was scared at the end and if her last thoughts were that we were hurting her... I hope her last thoughts were that she was loved by her family. :)

I'm so sorry for your loss. Whisper is no longer hurting. I had to put my Mr Jinx down earlier this year so sad . I have another old cat which is about 12 yrs old and she's not doing to good, just getting old.

Sorry to hear about Mr. Jinx. It is a very difficult thing to do.
I sure hope Harley(our new kitty) lives a long and healthy life. We adopted her from a local adoption organization. She was 3 months old when we got her and she is now 6 months old.

One of my cats had the same experience with the chicken flavor. Both of them do alright with the salmon, but when i switched back to chicken after thinking it was just a fluke the first time, she started throwing up frequently again for three days. I will never purchase any of the "Nutrish" products ever again, nor any cat food from Rachael Ray. There was also a recall on her wet food a while back because there was deadly amounts of vitamin d added that ended up killing some peoples pets :'(. She really should be ashamed of her pet food products. They are complete garbage.

Perhaps your cat is allergic to corn or corn gluten, which is a primary ingredient in the Nutrish line of Rachael Ray products.

I wouldn't touch anything Racheal Ray puts her name on, I just remember reading about her brand of olive oil not really being olive oil so can't imagine what's really in pet food. Sorry to all her fans I just find her to be fake and think her pet food would be unhealthy, I use royal canine kitten instinctive soft and kitten dry and the dry kitten Persian food for mine and they love it.

My cat seems to like Rachael Ray's Nutrish wet food in the cup. I see people point out the ingredient carrageenan. I called my local Animal Hospital & they told me that carrageenan is safe for Animals to consume. She told me the reason why some put carrageenan in there pet food is. Because they use it as a topper to put over the food. I also feed my cat Dr Gary's Best Breed grain free dry cat food. My helpful advice would be if you are not sure about an ingredient call the vet you take your animal to & ask them yourself. Don't just tell someone an ingredient is not safe when you may not know why they use the ingredient in the first place. So is carrageenan safe for animals the answer I got over the phone from my Animal Hospital is yes. Another wet food for cats that has carrageenan in it is Triumph & so far so good on the Nutrish wet cat food

I've changed my mind about RR Nutrish since I first posted on this thread.

My cat enjoyed both the Chicken flavor and the Salmon flavor, but I ultimately made a decision to forgo any more RR Nutrish because of the corn gluten content.  As for RR Zero Grain, it's too pricey for what you get, IMHO.  Your mileage may vary.
