Hi I'm new to this site and I've only ever done one other post prier to this :)
What it is I took in a stray kitty back in oct/nov and managed to get her to come in but always kept a window open so she could come and go learnt she was abandoned then kept her in but what it is I know cats are pregnant for 9 weeks and I know that pitch got out between the 10th and 15th of dec and come back acting all foolish rolling round and loveable didn't think nothing of it till I seen movement arranged to see a vet only to be told she could go at anytime but they didn't tell me how long to leave her for as I've worked out the 15th of this month she's due do I leave her to be or should I seek the vets again after the 15th if that makes sense sorry for the long post I've not dealt with a pregnant kitty for over 18yrs xx

Hi,

My cat was recently pregnant and I figured that happened end of Nov. beginning Dec.  giving her the latest possible due date as Feb. 5.  I took her to the vet on Feb. 4.  I was told that she was close and if she didnt have them in a week to go back.  Cats usually give birth in 63 days give or take a day or two.  As long as the cat is showing no signs of distress, I would let things progress naturally.  If after the 15th there are no signs of kittens, I would keep a close eye on her to make sure she is doing fine. If no kittens by the 20th, I would call the vet for another visit no matter what her state of health is for another check.

Hi again,

I just did a quick count and 67 days from Dec 15th would be Feb 20th.  I wouldnt start to worry until closer to the 20th.

Ok thank you midnightkitty she is a wonderful kitty she got weighed a week ago and weighed 3.8kg and got an estimate age of 2-3 yrs old not sure if she's had kittens before either she's showing signs of wanting to nest trying to get into the cupboards and the boiler cupboard got nesting boxes set up in all her favourite spots which are all quiet places she's slowed down a lot too and not eating much just picking or just eating the jelly off her kitty meat no milk showing either but then again she doesn't like to have her belly touched so I haven't really tried she's been mewing on and off for a few days too and won't leave me alone as soon as she sees me going to bed she pesters not that I'm bothered as she only likes me petting her and none of the other people living here I've already arranged and paid for in advanced for her to be spade as soon as kittens are weaned too don't want her to have more xxx

My cat was looking for nesting spots for weeks before having the kittens.  The one spot I had set up for her, she showed no interest in until 4 hours before giving birth.  She was very affectionate in the days prior and her milk didnt come in until the day before delivery.  If she is very close to you she might have the kittens in your bed.  No matter where she decides to have the kittens, do not move them or her until after all the kittens are born.  She might get stressed if they are moved during delivery and this might cause problems with delivery of the rest or her harming the ones already born.  If you need to move them, put the kittens in a box and move them and mom will follow.  Also do not handle the kittens unless necessary, because mom might stress out.  If you have any other concerns, feel free to post.  StefanZ has posted wonderful advice to others. Read some of the other posts and articles on this site for some excellent information.

hi ive not long checked pitchs nipples and there rather dry and flacky with what looks like white powdery stuff on them but its not like powder its coming away in bits sorry if this doesnt sound like its been worded right i do apolagise and vets have also said to take her in for a check up monday as the kittens have really slowed down movement wise and that the 15th (tomorrow) is probably her due date so if no kittens show over the weekend she needs to be checked out (15th is the vets estimate due date from what he has heard from discription of last heat) thanks for reading and commenting xxxxx

the liquid is from tits?  Surely normal, the tits are making ready to do their duty.    :)

If she wants belly rubs, do it.  A forumite observed the other day belly rubs stimulate their hormone works, helping with a good delivery work.

Good luck with your human family members, and your cats!

You try and palpate.  Sometimes you clearly feel there is somebody left and moving.  But if it doesnt moves, you often cant know if it is just some natural swellings, which will go down by themselves in a couple of days, or if it is one baby still in there.

If there doesnt seems to be any problems with her, you really doenst need to know.    You watch, but wait calmly.

It comes out with time, being a kitten, or it doesnt come out, being just these natural swellings.

It is not unusual one or several kittens comes later than the rest.   Better for them a little late than too early.

as long as you are sure the afterbirths did come out (not always easy as the mom usually eats them immediately, so if you were out  a minute, or looked elsewhere - you miss it).

and she is fine....    Phone to your vet if you wish and have a vet happy to answer phone questions, but is it  probably to overdo.

If she is visibly in distress, straining, uneasy, almost anything  - yes, you shall phone ASAP and be prepared to rush her in.

Good luck!

ps.  Here, as she dranka, ates some, seems relaxed, my guess it everything is OK so far.
