My cat Dusty passed away August 1st last year. She will always be my soulmate. She came running to the door when I came home. She would jump on the sink and would watch me put on my makeup every morning. When I was freelancing at home. She slept next to me. She loved everything in life. When she died a piece of me went with her. She lived to be 21 years old. She was always next to me. She talked like she was human. Anytime I was upset, she was trying to help me. She didn't want to leave me. Her names were, curly girl (she always curled her tail), lovey (because she was filled with love and affection), nannie, peanut, lovebug. Her picture is my icon on this site. She loved to play with jewelry, and under the sheets. She would jump so high. She would be on the neighbors roof. The birds all knew her. When she walked out the door, they all started to make noise. She taught me how to love life and get the most out of it. Not to focus on what you can't do. Only focus on what you can do. And love all the time.

I love you Dusty. You were the best thing that ever happened to me. Your pictures are everywhere. You will be with me always, forever.

Hi Lovey. Welcome to The Cat Site. I am so sorry that your first post is such a sad one. It hurts to lose a pet we love, even more so when it is our soul mate friend. I have never known anyone else who had a 21 year old cat. What a tribute that is to the wonderful life you provided for you fur baby. Rest in peace, dear Dusty.

What a beautiful tribute for a beautiful little soul. I, too, had my first post on this site when I lost my Chrissy, I think it helps to pour out your feelings to people that understand. You truly don't know how to deal with the sense of loss and the pain that is so intense at times you think you are losing your mind. I try to offer comfort and any help I can on this forum to let you know you are not alone in your grief, I remember well how lost I was. Dusty had a long and well loved life, I'm sure she is waiting now at the Rainbow Bridge for your glorious reunion. The love you two shared will never end....it's held and treasured in your hearts. She would want you to remember her with smiles instead of tears, but only time will help bring that to you. One day you may even honor her by allowing another needy soul to help mend your broken heart, but for now you need to mourn the loss of your friend and companion of 21 years. Please take care of yourself, I'll pray for you both. RIP beautiful Dusty!

Twenty-one years is itself a tribute to the love and care Dusty got from you, but the one you wrote is beautiful, too. She was with you for a very long time and will continue to be, even though you won't be able to see her.

RIP, Dusty. You were a very special girl who made life brighter.
