We just got my new kitten on Friday night and now it is Tuesday. She is around 3 months old and seemed normal when she came home. She was playful all night Friday and Saturday and then on Sunday she seemed really sick. She just wanted to sleep and did not want to play at all. She also threw up a few times and had diarrhea. I was worried, but I thought maybe it was normal since she was born she was used to whatever the pet shop fed her and now she had something new. Also, I am in Saudi Arabia so we do not have lots of options so I bought what seemed like the best food they had. Yesterday (Monday) she was back to normal and playing then today again she is sick. She is lying around, throwing up (even saliva from what it looks like) and has a lot of diarrhea.

She is a smart little thing she goes to her litter box already and also makes sure to get off the bed if she needs to throw up. She threw up on a bathroom rug and a newspaper. I feel bad for her and I do not know what is wrong with her. My husband will take her to get looked at later, but that is 6 hours from now. What could be doing this? She has not ate anything else, I give her bottled water to drink and no I do not feed her people food or milk. Thanks a lot, I am worried about Bunny. :(

If you can get goat milk, it is always OK.   Goat milk is also a mild food, it may help some in itself...

Proceed to give her water, so she drinks, dont get  dry out.  Keep her warm too...

Good luck!

I do not have a way to get out right now but, I know camels milk is available and from my studies it seems to be the best milk? But, even for that I would have to get it out in the desert. Things are just not easy to get here like back home in the states. I have been researching the raw diet you all spoke about and I really think that may best over who knows what cat foods.

Sometimes changing their food too quickly can make them sick, at these give them diarrhea.  Do you have any of the food they fed her at the pet store or shelter?  If so, you could try feeding her that and slowly mixing in her new food.  How about yogurt?  Do you have any of that  in the house?  Plain full fat would be best, but anything other than artificially sweetened would be ok.  (Yogurt has probiotics which could help her digestive tract)

Now that I look at the time of your last post, I guess she's been to the Vet by now!  What did they say?

I just wanted to update you all and thank you all for the replies. We took her that night and they said she had  cold and gave her a shot. They said since our home has all tiles and no carpet so she was not used to that. She seems to be feeling better and has not had any more accidents. So I am keeping  my fingers crossed that she feels better..

Oh yea I wanted to add they also suggested the yogurt and my husband is bringing some home tonight. I have started a raw diet bc after reading what some of you all said I thought cat food really is silly I mean none of it is natural. I have been giving her cooked ground chicken (no oil) and she loves it. Ground meats are pretty easy to get here. I also got lamb do you think she could eat that or no? The only ground meat really is lamb and chicken.. They do not have rabbit here.

I'm glad that she is perking up!

If all you are feeding her is plain meat, her diet is unbalanced and she will become malnourished. Head over to the raw & home-cooking forum to learn about what you need to add to her food. I wouldn't feed her meat exclusively until you learn what you need to add to it to give her all the nutrients she needs.

Oh okay will do. I am new to this raw diet thing and have only fed her cooked ground chicken for the past few days, oops. I got the yogurt and was afraid she would not eat it, but she loved it thank goodness.

Lamb is OK, but as Burkey mentioned, just meat is not nutritionally complete, especially for a growing kitten. You also need a calcium source and organs at a minimum.

And  you don't have to COOK it.  Raw (to us) actually means uncooked
.  However, unless you are grinding it yourself, it's best to lightly cook anything ground at the store.  But many people cook their cat's food, so we have a Raw and Home Cooked Forum.   But either way, you definitely need to add in at the minimum some liver and some calcium, which can consist of egg shells baked and ground up if you can't find any thing in your area.  But, especially for a kitten, it is IMPERATIVE she get a nutritionally complete diet.  Goat's milk and yogurt will provide some of that much needed calcium, I just don't know how much, nor do i know how to calculate how much
.  Some of the raw feeders will probably know!  You can start a new thread over there about it.  It's a sub-forum under Nutrition.
