Haven't logged on in a while I'vebeen so occupied playing with my lil babies :) but they are healthy...My Harmony had 6 kittens but one died during birth and she still doesn't let the tom cat near them after 7weeks if he even tries to smell them she's up chasing him and they fight

Those kittens are adorable.
RIP Little Kitten- go and play with the others across the Rainbow Bridge!
That’s perfectly natural behavior for her to be defensive around the tom cat while nursing- it’s a sign of protection towards her little furballs there. That tomcat is pretty handsome, by the way.

They fight because he is always wanting to mate, and she won't allow it.

They are darling babies, but will you please get mom and tomcat fixed?

Did you also know that mom won't allow him near the babies because she knows he is a threat to them?

Sometimes, and I don't mean rarely either, but sometimes males feel their mating territory is threatened by new kittens, and will actually kill the males and attempt to mount the females to "claim" them as his mates?

Well the tom cat isn't mine he's just a visitor but won't be here too much longer. But as far as his babies I've put my cat up n let him near the kittens for about 10-20mins but all he'll do is circle around them as sniff them all then walk away I assume he has no interest in the kittens but he hasn't tried harming them at all which im happy about

Sounds like he is okay around them, not sure if we would really know though, cats are funny, unpredicatable. He is probably fine.

He will get your girl prego again, is that what you want?

I get the feeling you are not interested in spaying her.

Yes, please do.    I doesnt matter much you are keeping her indoors and dont want more babies.  when they are in heat, and feel a tom nearby, they do their outmost to sneak out and mate.  Where do you think Houding learned many of his tricks??      It doenst even matter much she isnt best friend with the tom.  They will mate anyway if it is so.

And when they are in heat, all toms from the whole neighbourhood make sure they do have a congressus nearby, beleguering the house.  They do feel her smell clearly.

Also, going on empty heats year after year isnt not healthy for them. The risk for pyometra and breast cancer is increasing for each year.

So spaying, although not totally riskfree, IS their best bet. Heavily best bet, any bookmaker would give big odds.

Good luck!

Yes, just as StefanZ says, she WILL get pregnant again, no matter how careful or how much you watch her.

She will go into heat constantly until she gets pregnant again, heat lasts around a week, it will be gone for no more than a couple weeks, then right back again, over and over.

She will be restless and attract every intact male around. Did you know that male cats can smell a female in heat for up to a mile radius? Imagine that...

It is unhealthy for her to have litter after litter, and just as unhealthy for her to not mate too, remaining unspayed causes serious health issues, and it sounds like you love her and of course would want what is best for her.

So please think about getting her done asap.

If money is the problem, it's okay to look for options, there are several places you can check for help and very low cost spay.

Shelter, humane society, spca, and rescue groups all have access to low cost spays.

My rescue helps the public get their cats fixed all the time, $25.00 for males, $35.00 for females, and includes a vaccine.

Theyre out there.

Good luck!

Getting her spayed is just a good idea. It comes down to a small amount of money now for the surgery, or the possibility of a lot more money later if an emergency comes up because she ends up sick. Or, more kittens.

If Lilith hadn't been pregnant when we brought her home, I would have already had her spayed. But without knowing how far along she was or the risk of complications, I didn't feel comfortable going that route during her pregnancy. So now I have a larger bill to look at because I want to have all of the kittens spayed/neutered when I get her done once they're weaned.

Please get mama spayed as soon as feasible.  There is nothing to gain in allowing her to have unfulfilled heat cycles.  And as mentioned, no matter the best of intentions and the most watchful eye, chances are she WILL get pregnant again.  Where there's a will there's a way!  BTW - she can go into heat again while still nursing her litter!
