My cat has had about 3 very very small, pink undeveloped kittens. She has been very sick today and hasn't been eating. The vet is closed now and I'm not sure what to do.. It feels like she has another baby in her, but a live bigger one. What should I do until I can get her to a vet? Is she just having miscarriages and I'm worrying for no reason?

It is fully possible for them to deliver premature first, and days later, a full term, healthy baby.   If she is OK, no problems, watch but you dont need to worry.   Here she seems not entirely OK...  It depends a little on what you mean by her very sick...   But apparently you shall worry for her.

Keep her warm and stress free...

IF you must choose between her and these prematures, chose her.

These prematures?   Fight on as well you can.  But you must know their chances are slim.  If they are visibly premature, their chances are slim to none, even if you fight.

Keep them warm!  actively warming up if necessary. Give them kmr with a dropper if they dont suckle on mum.   Do you have glucose sugar / dextrose or honey at home?    a little of it on their gum may give them energy if necessary.  Or together with a little salt makes an excellent homemade pedialyte....

Weigh them every day so you see the development....

look at www.kitten-rescue.com for ideas...

I shall return in one hour and write more.

Good luck!

ps.  ARE they alive, these prematures?  If not, were they deadborne or did they died later?

Re mom not eating.   It doesnt sound good, but mom usually ates up the placentas.  Eating ut 3 placentas do satisfy many.    Im not saying it is this, some new moms proceed to eat even if they had several babies = did ate several placentas...

Make sure she gets fluids.  You can use the same sort of dropper you would use on the kittens.  Have some glucose sugar (=dextrose) or honey or white caro syrup + a little kitchen salt with the water, and give her with the dropper, aside at the cheek, if she doesnt drink herself.

Next though.  Many vets arent very good with helping small weak kittens.   so if you find one, stick to this vet.

Use a dropper with them, its easier.  small portions but often.  aside at the cheek, NOT down into throat.

Make sure they lie on the tummy, head a little up when you feed them (same postion as with mom).  Burp them some.  You must also stimulate them to pee and poo.

It is not sure mom has milk, also, if mom is sick and weak herself, let her rest and spare her efforts..

So kmr (the brand KMR is  probably the best, but there are also other brands).  Goat milk if you dont find anything else.

And as said, the moms health and life must go first.   If your vet isnt not open, you can perhaps find one vet who answers on telephone?

Good luck!
