I've got another question. Jordan came to the shelter with very shot whiskers. It was thought at the time that someone cut them off. I still think this maybe true because they were all the same length. Well now he seems to keep breaking them off. they will grow a little longer & when he & Levi wrestle they always seem to break off. What he had were very thick but short whiskers. Now he's got very fine whiskers & they seem to be growing out, but it's hard to tell. I'm wondering if this is something I should worry about. Is there any kind of health issue that causes this problem. I know they will grow back, but I want to make sure it's just a matter of time & not a matter of his health.

My sister in law to be has a devon rex with the strangest whiskers. I have seen him at times with fine ones, then at other times with long fine ones. I've asked her about them and have been told that they break off easily and he's the only cat in the house. The last time I saw him, he had short thick whiskers. It was normal for this cat as the vet gave him the all clear.

Though I would take Jordan to the vet to get an all clear.

I would venture to say that it could be a diet deficiency. I would take him to the vet and have him looked at. Cats do break whiskers but not usually routinely. They use them to measure distance so they know if their whiskers fit into a hole, then so will they. If they (for example) try to get into a space they can't fit, their whiskers will break.

They are going to the vet on Wednesday for their first check up at my vet. Then with any luck i'll be able to get them in the following week for neutering. I was going to do it all in one day, but I decided it was best to take them for a check up next week because I've got some health questions for the vet. The whisker thing with Jordan, he has eye goop daily & Levi has some dry skin on his back quarters. Since they were found on the streets by themselvs I want to make sure they are ok. They should be because the the shelter had them checked them out by a local vet, but let's just say I don't have the highest regard for that particular vets abilities. I've been free feeding them Royal Canin dry food & every other or every third day they get a can of science diet kitten food. So I think they are getting a healthy diet now, but who knows what it was like before & they've only been with me for 3 weeks.
