What can you do for a cat with dry skin ? Buddy keeps scratching on top towards the back and I can see flakes of skin on her fur. Any suggestions?

My kitty doesn't have any skin problems. I think the winter months tends to dry out human and pet skin.

I do give my cat coconut oil daily. I love how it makes her hair shine.
There are many other benefits with using coconut oil that will amaze you....

Pippi, my youngest cat, has dry skin from time to time in the winter months. Coconut oil has been a useful natural remedy for dry skin as well as a whole host of other health issues (it also kills mange). I add small spoonfuls of it to her food daily and it improved the skin conditions internally (I’m guessing by adding antioxidants to the body that helped promote the healthy skin and coat).

Best wishes for Buddy.

Also, be sure you're feeding a mainly canned food diet as that has more water in it and will help with the skin issue.

Sorry about the double post.
stephanietx is right about the canned food- it gets more water into their system and it keeps the skin moisturized.

What brand of food is your cat eating?  Some foods don't have enough fatty acids in them.  Are you giving an Omega supplement?
