I took Alice for her annual checkup and found out that our vet is leaving.  She bought an established practice just outside of Charleston S,C.  I am happy she is getting her own practice but now my kitties will be seeing another vet at the same practice.  She figured out what was going on with Patches after 6 years of vet hopping and has kept him healthy.  The first time I went there it was with Patches and he was a very sick kitty with Fatty Liver.  Alice seen one of the other kitties once on a Saturday when she seemed a little sick and it wasn't our vet's Saturday to work and I liked that vet as well.  I am sure it will work out fine it's just getting used to a change.

I was sad to see my last vet go. He moved to Atlanta to work in an emergency clinic. Turns out I like the new vet even better, and he's pro raw feeding (balanced, of course).

I hope it works out for you!

I was sad when we first adopted Abby and I called the vet to make an appointment and our favorite vet had left the practice. It's all worked out OK though. :vibes: That it all works out for you.

:vibes::vibes::vibes: that it works out. One of our vets, whom we've been going to for 30+ years, is getting close to retirement. Luckily she got a partner about 15 years ago who's a feline specialist.

I'm so sorry the vet you like is leaving. It almost feels like a breakup.

There was a woman that I liked that left the practice, too. She went somewhere local, but I decided not to follow for various reasons. I stayed with the practice and now see the co-owners (there's six vets total).

Even though I had brought Alice in she mentioned that she was going to miss Patches several times.  She calls him Joe Cool because even when he was sick he wouldn't fight anything that was done to him.  He would just be relaxed and take a whatever you want to do kind of attitude.  I am sure that vets have a real soft spot for kitties like that because they make their job so much easier.  Of course that didn't hold true for me with syringe feeding but I think that was because he was so nauseated.

I hope everything works out OK for you and for your furkids.

At our hospital, we can be seen by any of the six vets who work there. But we've been going there forever, well over 30 years now. We've taken new kitties in for their first check-up and we've taken kitties down to be PTS, too. All of the vets know us and they know how our cats act and what's wrong with them.

When Tabby first came here (I don't know if you know her story of the ear mites and the resulting ear infections and, for a while there, we thought she was deaf in one of her ears.....if I show pictures of her and she looks like her head is tilted, it is and it's a result of the ear mites. Tabby is off-balance), we've dealt with all the vets at one time or another and, as a result, we tried everything on that poor cat. They knew it was ear mites, but it was one of the worst cases any of them had ever seen, especially in a wee kitten like Tabby. Everyone wanted us to try something different because nothing was working. And it was difficult, not only on Tabby, but with us, too. There were times when Tabby was seen by more than one vet at one time because they had to discuss just what to do with those ears of hers.

I think we can request to be seen by one vet only, if we choose, but honestly, they're all really good and you can tell that they all dearly love their patients.

My point to this is that a lot of times, all of the vets at one hospital are wonderful, or they wouldn't be there. Now I'm sure there are cases where one vet is really bad, but I think that's rare. All you can do is take Alice and the rest of your gang to the vet and see how she interacts with your furkids, how she interacts with you, and how caring she seems to be. Chances are it will be fine; the worst part is not knowing. And we understand that.

I wish you and your kids the best of luck.
