Thanks, Tarralb, Ondine, Susank521, and dsue!
If he comes out while I'm still awake, I try and sneak another photo of Niles tonight.

Niles is eating more canned food, and I started getting more of the grain free types. I still give him some dry, but less.  I will probably start giving him some raw food, but after he is neutered.

We'll look forward to another picture if he'll let you. He's still playing with you regularly? Play really is the best way that you can bond with a 7 month old feral cat. Sounds like he's eating well. Like dsue said, you're a cat angel!

Hi: I agree with Susan. Would love to see a picture of Nile and love to hear of the little guys progress. So happy to hear your switching to wet food, raw and grain free!! He will be healthier longer and reward you with loyalty and love for years to come . You rescued him from a terrible situation and he is grateful even though scared and traumatized by it. He happily plays at night when he feels safe and he will keep getting better. Bless you!

OMG! What a cute little guy!! Soooo happy to hear he's spayed now. That's so important for many reasons! He looks happy and seems like he has definitely chosen you to save him. Love to stay informed of his progress. You go Niles!

So happy that Niles is neutered and back home safe and sound.  Males heal very quickly.  He will be back to his normal self in no time.  He is one handsome boy.  I just love black kitties!!

What a sweet face!  So happy he's back home safe.  As Shadow said, males heal in a day or so.  You will be surprised at how quickly he settles down.

I'm glad to hear that Niles got neutered. What a lot of trouble you went to for him!  I'm sure he appreciates it on some level. (Maybe he's not showing it right now though.

Here's Marley, my feral bad boy turned good.

@dsue You've got to use the Desktop view (not Mobile view) to add icons. In the Desktop view immediately above the box where you type your reply is a row of options (Insert Image, Insert Video, Table etc.), Sixth from left is the smiley face
, click on it to get to the icon selection.

If the above doesn't make any sense let me know. I'm pretty sure that there is a tutorial thread here someplace which I'll see if I can find.

Thanks, everybody.  Hi, dsue , susank521, and Ondine!  Niles is fine.  He has made some big progress.  He's been coming out more during the day, and  actually comes up on the bed and lays down next to me if he thinks I'm asleep.  He found the window sill,    He also took a couple nibbles of gerber chicken baby food  from a spoon.

David, I've got to say it again: You are wonderful for taking this little guy in!
In cat time, you have made tremendous progress in 5 months. And it's all thanks to your care and patience. Whatever you're doing, keep it up.

Oh, that's good news!  It takes time and patience but he sounds like he'd getting the idea - hmm, this house gig might not be such a bad thing.

So happy to hear about Niles great progress!!! I knew those early signs he was coming around especially when he let you pick him up to take to the vet. Now he's sleeping next to you because he's feeling more safe. What a lucky little guy to have found you!! Hooray!!
