My cat got one of her fingers on her paw pinched in a metal chair. I was able to pull the metal apart so she could get it out on her own. She's now limping, and it looks swollen. The skin isn't broken, and there doesn't seem to be any blood.  Any ideas on how to relieve her pain? Thanks!!

I would take her to the Vet.  It sounds terribly painful, even without the skin breaking.  Iknow it's been several hours...is it still swollen?  How much of the paw was pinched in there?  Did you try icing it?  If nothing else, I would CALL my Vet.

Thank you for your response! She's doing much better.  I had the thought of icing it, but she isn't very fond of people holding her when she isn't hurt:).  She has started to put a little weight on it.  She is still eating and grooming and trying to show off for people, but we are trying to keep that limited!.Thanks again!

Cats are amazing in their ability to seemingly recover from injuries so quickly, but if her toe or foot is still swollen after a couple days I would bring her to your vet.  If you are lucky it may just be badly bruised, in which case it will heal on its own.  Other than vet-prescribed medication, there isn't much you can do for the pain other than alternating cold and heat.  The pain will more than likely ease up after a day or so.  Good luck!

As long as she appears to be slowly getting better and is still eating and interacting alright, I would say she is starting to heal. Even if it is broke, like a human toe, I don't think there is a lot to be done. Keep an eye on it for infection inside, more swelling, drainage, or refusing to put weight on it at a later date. Cats have a remarkable ability to heal themselves but a little TLC wouldn't hurt!
