Hi

I was looking out my window and I saw two of my neighbors cats playing, they look around 9-12 months old, like older kittens. And they looked so cute and then....one mounted the other! I was shocked, don't neutered males stop that?
I always assume that civilized people neuter their cats now, but maybe they don't? Ee gads! Or could it just be a fluke?

It is normal interactive play for cats, it is a show of domination, and a natural urge for them as well. If the males are neutered early enough, this type of play is down-graded. If they are toms, you might want to speak to your neighbor and suggest kindly she get them neutered. Though sometimes that falls on deaf ears.

Grab a camera and sell it on the internet!

Yeah, it's a domination thing (male cats aren't dumb like dogs and don't go around sticking their thing into anything that stays still long enough...).

I have been suspicious they aren't good pet owners, but I still would be shocked if they didn't neuter! So good to know it's just play, perhaps at least....
