Our previous babbling contest  was so much fun, we decided to run another one! As athletes from around the globe gather to compete in the Olympic Winter games, we want to see if we can break out own TCS record of babbling this month
The record of the last thread was 741 posts, let's see if this time we can make it to a round 1000!

How to Win

It's simple - just post away! Interact in the thread and have fun, and you could just win if you post certain posts in the thread.

To win, you have to be the one making one of these posts: #250, #500, #750 or #1000.

Your post has to meet the contest rules, as detailed below. It if doesn't, it will be disqualified and the prize will move on one post (for example, if post #500 doesn't meet the contest rules, we'll choose post #501 instead).

Make post #250 to win: a 3 months forum membership!  Won by @GCat

Make post #500 to win: a 3 months forum membership + a $20 Amazon gift card!  - Won by @GoldEye

Make post #750 to win: a 6 months forum membership + a $20 Amazon gift card! won by @catbehaviors

Make post #1000 for the grand prize: a 6 months forum membership + a $40 Amazon gift card + a TCS Tote bag - won by @JTbo

To make things fair and fun, a single member can win up to two prizes in this contest, but no more than two. If a member has won two prizes already, he/she will be more than welcome to participate, but if they end up the next winning post, we'll move up one post to choose another winner.

The Rules

1. Minimum of 15 words per post.

Don't bother with counting words. Just make sure your posts are longer than one line and you should be ok.

2. Proper English.

Please don't just hit randomly at your keyboard. No gibberish allowed and as with other posts on the site, try to avoid texting abbreviations.

3. Comprehensible posts.

Your posts can be drivel, but they still need to make sense. Avoid using automated text generators. It's a babbling thread, but we still want to see communication with your fellow members.

4. Original posts only.

Please do not copy and paste text from another source. Not even from this site. Not even if you were the author. Just write something fresh for this thread.

5. No consecutive posts. You can't add a reply if yours is the last post in the thread. If anyone starts talking to themselves to speed things up, they risk getting banned from this thread.

The contest ends on midnight of February 28th, or once we reach 1000 posts. Whichever comes first.
Note: if we don't make it to 1000 posts by February 28, the thread will be closed for further submissions at the end of that day and we'll pick a random winner from the thread. That means you could possibly still win, even if you just made post #xxx in the thread.

Let's get the thread rolling! Good morning posts and positive thoughts to start this off with are very welcome! Just make sure they follow the rules and contain more than 15 words.

Good luck!

Does anybody remember toothpaste powder? My grandparents had a tin of it in their guest bathroom, though I don't think anybody ever used it. The U.S. warning about explosives in toothpaste made me think of it. Maybe all the Olympic athletes will have their tubes of toothpaste confiscated and replaced with "toothpowder".

I don't think I have ever heard of toothpaste powder!

I had my hair done today. It will never look like this again. :lol3: The hairdresser straightened it. I can't be bothered to do that. :lol3:

I swear every time I sit down to post my boys start acting like a couple of barn yard animals! First they are climbing all over me whining and kneading, now that didn't work so they have started a noisy running and wrestling match!

We're supposed to give our cats our undivided attention, not stare at some dumb lighted box or rectangle. :lol3:

I just took a look at Amazon, and there are lots of brands of toothpowder. Odd - I wonder how many people actually use it?

I learnt this cat fact today

Cats can make over 100 vocal sounds, while dogs can only make 10. Also cats rarely meow at other cats

:lol3: I am going to have to have a talk with Abby about this as she rarely meows. She apparently has a huge repertoire and she is holding back. :lol3:

Mogli doesn't know how to meow. He squeaks. Jamie had a very wide variety of meows, wails, squeaks, growls, etc..

I also learned that fact recently, I also heard that our cat kids may not think of us as a parent but instead as a giant non threatening cat......

allenkm allenkm Did you read Cat Sense? I liked it.

I picked up my new "green card" today. It's pink! DH has a German passport, I have a U.S. one and a "pink card", and Mogli has an EU pet passport. We're an international family. :lol3:

I have not read it entirely but yes and I enjoyed it
I love learning about what cats might think and feel about their lives with humans

Have you read Catwatching by Desmond Morris? That has all sorts of interesting observations about cats, too.

I have not, but I am making a note of our now, have you ever heard of the painting cats? Can't recall the exact title but it is about a guy who studied cats that paint with their paws

My Gezer makes up for anything other cats miss. He's incredibly talkative, so much so that people sometimes tell him to please shut up because they can't concentrate with him giving speeches. He can sound incredibly human too, so you find yourself actually listening and trying to understand his "words". He can absolutely say "Eema" which is Hebrew for "Mommy". He got me out of bed in the middle of the night more than once, thinking one of the kids was calling me.

I also learnt this today

Cats have actually been used to deliver mail. :eek2:

In Belgium in 1879, 37 cats were used to deliver mail to villages. However they found that it didn't work because the cats were not disciplined enough to keep it up. Lol :lol3:

That was created by AbbysMom.

These are supposed to be the most expensive Winter Games ever. I wonder how much of that money is for security?

Pictures of the "twin toilets" in Sochi are all over the Web.

The BBC even has a report on Russian reactions to the twin toilets:

There are a couple of videos on YouTube. Of course, there seem to be a couple of videos on YouTube about anything you can think of.
