Has anyone ever had this problem before? I bought some tins of Evo wet food, and it has these strange soft black things in it - kind of like pieces of fish skin (few mm in diameter), only there is not supposed to be any fish in it. The black pieces are not hard, they are soft and mushy if you palpate them. I did feed one can and did not notice the pieces (but maybe I just missed seeing them
). But then the next 2 cans that I opened had these black pieces in them. I presume the other unopened cans will be the same as they are from the same batch. I am not feeding the food.

Not sure if I will get my money back, but should I take both opened cans as well as the unopened cans to the store and let them know? What a waste of money, as this is not cheap food. Should I be concerned about the quality control of the product or is this probably just a fluke incident?

I had some issues with another premium brand a while ago too. My cats dislike the premium foods with carrots and peas etc. in them, so I am running out of options of makes to try. Thinking of giving up on premium wet foods and just feeding Friskies - I seem to have much better luck with that food.

I did a quick google search and saw other people have had this problem as well. Call and let someone know! I can't post links yet (I don't think anyways) but google it really fast and read what others wrote.

Was the web link you saw for the wet food? I saw some problem with black bits in the dry food, but I did not find any statement for wet food.

One from April 2009 was about EVO wet food. Not sure on the others! This one was on a forum called itchmoforums

I'm noticing the same thing in a case I bought recently of this exact variety of evo wet food.  I just pick it out - looks like little eyeballs to me (sure it's not) - it just wigs me out).  Rest of the can looks and smells the same.  It's been in the past 2 cases that I've bought.

I noticed this, too. Caesar likes the 95% Chicken & Turkey, and I've seen these black things. I never really thought anything of it. I just figured it was the natural variances in color of the meat and fat in the food.

Interesting. What is the date on our cans with this? My expiry date is 08/19/15. I am just curious if these cans are from the same batch.

Same date.  I contacted Natura, they are sending me a kit so I can send them a can from this case for them to analyze. I'll let you guys know what they tell me though it will be a few weeks.  I don't remember exactly how the person I spoke to put it, but her thought was that this was due to oxidized vitamins, versus a contamination or true foreign object.

Yes, please do let us know. I only have a couple of cans of this stuff, so I will just not use it until then. I threw the first couple of cans away.
