Happy Hump Day, everyone!

Today's question is about shopping... what are your favorite stores - online or in-person shopping?

I miss Whole Foods and Trader Joe's and really wish we had one (or both) here. I also like the big grocery stores in Texas, like HEB, they always have cool non-grocery items on Halloween, Easter, and Christmas. And Central Market in Austin has lots of Whole Foods-type variety with a nice restaurant attached, and OH! fresh tortillas you can buy them warm!

Online I'm a fan of Lands End, the Company Store, Coldwater Creek, e-Bay, and Amazon. I used to order from Sears, especially things for the home, but their customer service has gone way down, two weeks ago they messed up my order and it took me two hours to get it straightened out, on the phone and in person. While I was at Sears at the customer service area, the woman there kept insinuating that I ordered the duplicates they sent - I ordered 6 skirts and was sent 8 and charged for 9. Plus, they did not take off the 25% discount - good thing I took a screenshot of my order! I ended up keeping 3 skirts but never again...

Amazon.  And then there's Amazon.  And oh, did I mention Amazon?

In person I like Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, World Market (they have international style home decor and foods from around the world).  We have a local store called Cornucopia Community Market, lots of local, organic and vegetarian foods there, plus herbs and body care products.

Amazon

Ebay

I'm not much of a shopper but those are my "go to" online sites.  I really love Etsy.  I've gotten some really nice handmade, unusal artwork there.

For in person shopping, food I love Wegman's. Not quite as expensive as Whole Foods (which isn't near me anyway) and carries things I can't find elsewhere.  Very good supply of organic fruits/veggies.  For clothing I like Lord and Taylor or Macy's.  They are always running sales, and both typically have a good supply of plus sized clothing - Macy's even has petites in plus size which is much better for me.

For home stuff, right now I'm digging Home Goods, which is a off-shoot of Marshalls. That's one store I really need to watch my wallet in.

I wish we had community markets around here! We were in Maine last week and I hit up every co-op and community market I could find!

I love little local shops. Those are my favorite. I don't always go into them though because they are so much more money at times!

I got nearly everything for my Secret Santa there.  I also got a heavy stone Asian kitty for the mantle on our fireplace for something like $20.  And the other day, bought 2 slightly mismatched bedroom end tables for $130 for the pair (one has 2 drawers, the other 1 drawer and a shelf at the bottom - I didn't want them to look exactly alike).

I use great restraint when there.  The kitchen section is an especially bad place for me to be!  I once saw a John Boos tall and long chopping table for only $100.  Those things go for $500 and up.  It was red, so cute.  But I didn't think it would fit into my kitchen very well as it would be used kind of like an island.  That one killed me to pass up.

Amazon.com is great, but the Canadian one is very overpriced. Usually on the Canadian site, everything is at least double the price. I just saw boxes of diapers on there for between $88-$112, which on amazon.com is $52.

I tend to just shop at Walmart. I live in the country outside of a small town and we don't have many options.

I really prefer to shop in person. I like to feel the materials and see the colors. I like to try things on before I buy. I think you can judge quality better in person. I like shopko a lot.

So true

lf you live near the border you can open a mail box account across the border and use the free shipping option. Then drive down and pick it up. l've started doing that.

Online it's Amazon for sure!  Sometimes Ebay, Etsy or other sites if I'm looking for something specific.

In store: Kohls, AC Moore, or Target.  I have a love/hate thing for shopping at Walmart.

We have one about 40 minutes from here that I would LOVE to go explore!  But I have to go with the right person or alone and the alone thing just doesn't happen easily!  DH would probably rather peel paint off a wall by hand than go there.  The kids; they'd be bored and it sounds "dangerous" too.   I'm guessing they have breakables around every corner ya know?  But man it looks like my kind of store...

Brick and mortar stores: Trader Joe's, Christopher and Banks, Boscov's, JCP, Target, Staples, and pretty much any grocery store....yeah, I can spend hours in a grocery store if I've never been in that particular store before. I love to just look at things in a grocery store. I also like Reading China and Glass, a kitchen-type store in the outlets in Reading, PA. Spices, glass containers, cooking and baking stuff (pans, gadgets, utensils), storing stuff, glazes, lots and lots of condiments that tend to call to me.

I like to visit our small local shops.....they truly do have an amazing variety of merchandise. And because there are college towns both to the north and south of us, we have a great array of local shops. Like Karen said, they can be very expensive. But many times they carry eclectic items that you won't really find in a chain store.

We have a neat Barnes and Nobles store in town. It's also the university bookstore, so they carry a lot of college-themed items and clothing. But they have a great selection of books and I can always find a book or two that I can sit and peruse at the store.

Online: Amazon, baby! I don't know I ever lived without Amazon!

I stay away from WalMart as much as possible.

I buy most everything I can on Amazon. I get most of my clothes at Ross. I also enjoy Michaels. They have beautiful home decor items and their coupons are the best.
