I was asking because my grey boy Shadow loves to put his paws in his water bowl and drink, and he also loves to lay in the shower after we've used it.  He's so strange!

Mason, silly boy that he is, loves watching the toilet flush and water fill the washing machine. He doesn't try drinking or playing in it just watches with such an intense look on his face.

Lol! Our cat runs when we flush the toilet or if the shower is on. He's sooo weird about that.

Cam is definitely not interested, his main relationship with anything water related is when he needs to quench thirst.

Morgana on the other hand, likes faucets to play and drink from, sitting on the shelf or along the bathtub edge when I'm in the shower, and putting her paw in my glasses to play or drink from. She also likes the water from the fish tank, ignoring the actual fish inside. Thankfully the toilet doesn't appear to interest her - probably helped that she almost fell in one time.

She hates actually getting wet, but seems to enjoy everything else about water!

This describes exactly what my orange girl does.

One of our cats would get in the shower with me. He would only drink water from a running faucet in the bathroom.

My kitten, while she is drinking water, uses her paw to like, throw the water out at the same time?  she is digging in the water with one paw and drinking it at the same time... and then she takes her toy mice and puts them in the water bowl.  So all day I have to take them out, dry them up, and refill the bowl.  It's especially fun when she takes them out all wet and dripping and carries it onto the couch, and leaves it there.  Sometimes, when she thinks everything is trying to attack her, when she gets the crazy eyes, she just attacks the water and then throws the whole thing over.

Tango loves to dip his paws in the water bowl all the time so I have pawprints all over my hardwood floors.

Also, 3 of my cats LOVES it when I am in my bathtub.  Pepper always start meowing like crazy when I turn the water on in the bathtub to fill it up and will continue to meow until I get in then she'd get on the edge and be joined by Spike and Tango and sometimes Buddy  and together they'd drink from the hot water.

Don't ask me why!!! I don't know why they LOVE this. They won't drink from it until I am in it. *rolling eyes* I have had to give up bubble bath because of this quirk.

yea my cat loves to play in it. i bought her a fountain because she would always empty her entire bowl onto the floor and not have any to drink but the same thing happens with the fountain water. its kinda annoying too because for the time being im using bottled water and i hate to see it go to waste like that. but it makes her happy so im not out to punish her.

Sammi would get in the bathroom and put his paw in the water in the toilet and flip it out all over the place, then I started making sure the lid was down and he  will get in the shower when it is still wet.  I have a shower chair and he likes napping on it. (while it is wet)

He has recently started loving my kitchen sink and sometimes in the morning when I go to the kitchen to make coffee he is asleep in the sink.  He does like drinking out of the sink too so I have to make sure to rinse it well after doing dishes.  Do not think dish soap is the best flavoring for water and could be harmful.

You all have no idea how much I appreciate posts like these.  It does help relieve anxiety for me to know that there is nothing really wrong with him and that it is a type of "cat thing" to do.

While Banshee didn't really play in water, she loved to take showers with me when she was a kitten. I'd be in the shower (I always have to keep the bathroom door open....Cats' Rules, you know--No Closed Doors Allowed in the House, or something like that) and soon I'd hear her jumping up in the corner of the bathtub. She'd sit there and watch me. One day, I picked her up and, while shielding her from the worst of the shower spray, I'd let some of the water get on her. And the little stinker started to purr. She was like....anything Mom can do, I can do, too! As she got older, she stopped wanting to get into the shower, but she sat on the corner of the bathtub for years while I showered. I was always careful and never sprayed her with the water.

Muffin likes to pat the water in their water dish; I used to think she did it so she could tell where the water level was so she could get a drink. But after watching her a few times, I realized that she just likes doing it. She'll pat at the water and then watch it spray out over the dish. After cleaning up the floor several times, I put a rimmed placemat under the water dish. I still have to clean the placemat every day, but it's better than the whole floor.

Oh, and Tabby likes to throw Pinkie (the mouse) in the water dish, too. Does that count? We'll walk out into the kitchen in the morning and Pinkie will be face-up or sometimes face-down in the water bowl. We'll take Pinkie back out, dry her well, and wrap her in a paper towel til she's nice and dry. Then we give her back to Tabby.

My Rainbow kitty, Ali, loved to put her paw in the water dish and lick the water off her paw. She'd also sit behind the water faucet at the kitchen sink, wait for me to put the water on and drink from the faucet.

MY RB cat Kuce loved water. She would drink from any faucet and didn't mind getting wet. She'd drink from the toilet if we would have let her (we didn't). She also dipped her paws in her bowls and lick them. She even didn't mind having baths.....Her fur never matted.

Our other RB cat (2 of 3) Dancing Bear also loved getting wet when it rained. He would run outside if we let him and come in drenched (you'd think he was a water dog). He also loved the attention of the groomer when he was bathed and shaved - due to matting and neglet from his previous owners).

Buster (one of bi-colors) also doesn't mind getting wet and dipping his paws in the water.

Everyone else though .......... If it's not in the bowl to drink it might make them melt.....

Oliver LOVES water. Well, little amounts of it. He sits in the sink while I brush my teeth, while a really slow flow of water comes from the faucet. He watches the toilet flush nearly every time I use it. He jumps in the shower after I get out. But, if I wash my hands and he's standing at my feet and the water drips on him as I reach for the towel... very displeasing to little Oliver! Haha.

Yes my Rose is a bit like that too. Yesterday I was reading that cats have trouble seeing when the water starts in their bowls so I'm assuming that's why she moves her bowl like that. They recommend putting something that floats in it to help them. I did that and it she started playing with it, so I don't think that worked for her :) I love that she loves water. I haven't tried taken her into the shower when she's watching me on the border of my bathtub to give her a bath (maybe I should). But she always watches while I'm taking a shower, and always goes in straight after the tap is turned off to inspect the wet bathtub after I've finished with my shower. If I am actually taking a bath, the curiosity level goes up three notches. She 'touches' the water with her paws and I don't understand how she doesn't fall inside with me. I just let her be, but am always tempted to take her in. I just don't do it because it would involve drying her with the hair dryer afterwards and she gets very scared by it.

One of our kittens is always interested in the shower.. she peeks in the edges while I am in there and has even jumped in a few times. She waits for us to get out after we turn the water off, she won't jump in the tub until we step out, then she jumps in and sits and lays and licks.
