Not sure why, but I like giving "people" names to my fuzzy animals (even my pet rats had pretty human names)  This little guy looks like a Jake.  No idea where that name came from, it just popped in my head.  So cute a fuzz ball!

I think  Crookshanks would be a wonderful name for him. Like Hermione's cat from Harry Potter.

Can't speak for @Harper but I was struggling to get to sleep and resorted to listening to The Prisoner of Azkerban on CD, the bit where Hermione adopts Cruickshanks:-D (I know, it's kinda sad for a woman in her 50s to do this but Steven Fry reads it and I love his voice, I could listen to him read just about anything).

I'm sorry to say that I have not seen much of the Harry Potter movies :(

Is it pronounced crookshank?

You can get the whole series on CD and even book one is about 6 or 7 discs!  By the time you get to the longer books they are about 17 discs per book!  The best bit is that they are not abridged and follow the books exactly.  I hate listening to adbirdged works.  I know them so well I don;t need to listen to the story and just have the sound of a voice I like in the background and if I want to concentrate and take my mind off something I can pick up anywhere and follow but then drift off without getting hooked on what comes next. Perfect.  I hate to think how many hours of book I have worked through as I have all but the second book which I don't really like.  Must be over a hundred!

The other stuff I sometimes listen to like that is monologue plays written by Alan Bennett called Talking Heads.  They are very Brittish though, not sure people anywhere else would get them.  Alan Bennett reads them in his own Northern accent.  I used to love The Adventures of Dougal that I had on tape but not replaced with CD - that was great for light relief on heavy nights - quite surreal.  For anyone familiar with a 1970s children's TV programme from the UK called The Magic Roundabout, this is a talking book version by Eric Thomson who wrote the scripts for the show.  You can't help laughing.  You can get the book on Amazon but don't know if it's still available on CD if not I wish I had bought it before.

Now there's another source of kitty names - Magic Roundabout.  Zebedee (wise know it all), or Dylan (not quite with it hippy-rabbit) perhaps.

Yes @catwoman707, it is pronounced Crookshank.

I agree with cat nap, when will you let us know your name choice!  I know it takes my sister weeks to find just the right name for her kitties; trying them out for a couple of days to see if it is a good match.

yes....i cannot wait.....atleast a hint about which way you are leaning...

actually when i name a cat it usually takes me months....so we end up with two names for a cat....because my sister feels they should be named fast and i keep changing my mind.

Thanks, Cat nap.  Makes sense that she would have her hands full.  That's funny that your sister is like me with names and my sister is like you!  LOL    Now that you mentioned it, her cats end up with 2 names, too.  I think her kids get used to one then she goes and names it a again.  Sometimes you really do need the time to get to know your kitty's personality before you name it.
