About 3 years  ago one of my cats had a bad reaction to over the counter flea drops, she had panic

attacks and  a bad neurological spell for the entire day after applying.

I knew that flea collars caused some of my cats to cough and they were inhaling the toxins from

flea collars..

I could not afford name brand flea drops from the vets office for 3 cats each month.

I read and read and found a product called Four Paws and also Pet Guard wafers for dogs and for

cats.

these wafers contain  garlic and brewers yeast.

I looked at the weight, one wafer for each 10lb. per day

and I   bought them off Amazon and also Pet Guard has their own site you can order by

telephone. The Four Paws has the same ingredients just another brand bought online and

on Amazon also..

When I get ready to feed my 3 cats each  morning I cut the wafers up in half with my fingers

or a pill cutter..

and add one treat and put this down on the floor..for each cat

they eat it ...then I put down their catfood

for their breakfast.

So, one cat that is 22 lbs he gets two wafers at breakfast

16 pound cat gets one and half wafer

10 pound cat gets one wafer along with a treat beside it..

My cats have not had any fleas nor ticks in 3 years.

They are outside every day  hunting and playing in the woods.

I wish I could have bought stock in these companies years ago.

I have told hundreds of people in the pet stores about them and they were happy to hear about

a safe and non toxic way to prevent fleas  and ticks on their pets..

My cats used to get so many ticks on their necks and some fleas...before I  found Pet Guard wafers

and Four Paws wafers.

you may private email me with any other questions.

Very interesting info......I will have to check that out for myself :)

I just ADORE the photo, it looks like mine, similar to my avatar pic but more close up that I have of my Krissy outdoors. Love the natural looking pics :)

Thank you..for the compliment on my cats...

Peebo, Bro and Leo

the Pet guard and Four Paws really works 100 percent for my 3 cats

I get nothing from the companies not even a thank you..for my postings

on sites like amazon etc..

That is okay,  my cats are safe, it is economical and the way I love animals I like to share

this flea prevention and tick prevention with anyone that has a dog or a cat .

Petguard of Four Paws garlic and yeast wafers for cats and or dogs..,

No, it is not toxic or these companies would not be in business..

My cats would have died or been sick in the 3 years they have

eaten the wafers..

Perhaps garlic is detrimental in some other forms such as fresh..

garlic..

That's very interesting.  I'll have to do some research on this, too.  Thanks for the information.

You have a 22 lb. cat?  That's a big kitty!!  My parents used to have an orange tabby that size.  He was completely healthy, not overweight, he was just a big boy!

Yes Peebo is a big cat

I have switched him over from weight management SImply nourishing dry food turkey

to canned about 2 weeks ago and he has gained weight!

I can not understand as  he is not eating as much canned as he needs for his weight

and he did not eat a lot of dry food..

He now weighs 24 lbs....he was 23 and half 2 weeks ago......when I switched him

to canned food....

He is eating Fancy Feast grilled chicken

nearly all the time and also Friskies chicken in gravy

My cats do not like pate type food.

They prefer it to look like bits ..

I wish it did not have any gravy in the food but most of it

does..unless it is pate from what I have seen in the stores.

That is all we can afford to buy is the Friskies mainly but

are buying Fancy Feast grilled chicken..

they love salmon and fish but I learned that is not

something to be feeding them..that is what they will clean

the plate and enjoy are the Meow mix crab and shrimp

and salmon varieties in the orange tubs with foil tops.

Any thoughts?

He is 8 years old..

not active..due to arthritis maybe and spine goes down

on his back..sway backed..

Do you simply give the garlic/brewer's yeast disc to the cat and he eats it? You do not have to hide the disc in his food? I doubt that my cats would eat it.

"All members of the onion family (shallots, onions, garlic, scallions, etc.) contain compounds that can damage cats’ red blood cells if eaten in sufficient quantities. Garlic tends to be more toxic than onions on an ounce-for-ounce basis, and cooking does not destroy the toxin. While it’s uncommon for cats to eat enough raw onions and garlic to cause serious problems, exposure to concentrated forms of onion or garlic, such as dehydrated onions, onion soup mix or garlic powder, can put cats at risk of toxicosis (poisoning). For example, some sick cats who are fed baby food containing onion powder develop anemia. The damage to red blood cells caused by onions and garlic generally doesn’t become apparent until three to five days after ingestion. Affected cats might seem weak or reluctant to move, or they might have pale gums. Their urine can be orange-tinged to dark red. Cats with any of these symptoms should be examined by a veterinarian immediately. In severe cases, blood transfusions may be necessary."

I appreciate your post as we all  love our pets..

I wish you would call  Pet Guard their company or

Four Paws..and talk to them about it.

They are listed on the internet and a phone number

for Pet Guard corporate office...

They have been in business for many years and

I have used their products for over  3  years.

My cats have never been sick from me feeding them

the Pet  Guard wafer every morning.

I rather use the wafer by Pet Guard  or Four Paws

to prevent fleas or ticks getting on my cats

than to use flea drops that have toxins in them

with the side effects they have with the flea drops

even the ones from the vets and name brand ones

have toxins ...if it kills a flea  or tick then it has

to be harmful...

Example..I used to work in an office where they sprayed

pesticides once  a month when I was working in the office.

I began to get sick over a period of a year of being exposed

to pesticides..

and developed CFS and Multiple chemical sensitivity illness

and  the breakdown of my immune system.

I do correlate the pesticide spraying that many have in their home

or offices ..to my getting sick.

I think that an animal in a home sprayed could get sick

over a period of time as their immune system can not handle

the toxins...

Some may never get sick..and their immune system can

take the chemicals..but some pets may get sick from

chemicals applied to them ...such as the flea drops..

who knows who will get sick and who will not..

and I would never use a flea collar again

on a cat or dog.

If you find out more and want to research it with Pet Guard and

the maker of Four Paws, please let us know what they tell you.

Thanks

you take the wafer and break it or cut it in half or fourths

then you put down one of the cats other dry treats

and they will eat it before you feed them breakfast..

otherwise if you do canned food just crumble it over the

canned food, be sure they get it in the food ...

it does work well..

one wafer per 10lbs of weight

safe for a cat or a dog..

if they are over either 3 or 6  months old

you can call petguard on the phone and ask

them what age to begin using it..

Like most   things, you wait till 3 or 6 months..

on all animals ..healthwise..

Thank you. I do plan to call Pet Guard. It could be that the amount of garlic is so small that it would not cause difficulty except to ill or other at risk cats. You cats taking this over 3 years is an exmvple that they do not get ill.

I have heard of health food type people who deliberately feed their dogs and cats straight dried garlic sprinkled on their food. Asking for trouble and a big vet bill too.

Anyway, I will pursue these wafers. I agree with you that all other treatments are highly chemical and sickening.
I have a friend who uses a homemade spice and herbal mixture which I have never understood. II could ask her again.
