Hey guys :)

I don't know if this would be the right place- or if there is a thread with places to post things such as this but I have a friend who has recently started a Facebook Group for owners of cats (or any pet!) with auto immune diseases. I believe her goal is to offer support, advice, and any help one might need after their cat has been diagnosed with such a thing.

I thought some members here might be interested, even if you've never experienced it and just want info, everyone is welcome!

Her main reason for starting the group was she herself owns a cat who was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease, his name Is Max and he's a sweet little thing. She almost lost him over a year ago but he is happily stable as of now. She's a great owner that makes sure all of his medical needs are met and does her best to keep him from declining again, and is very good about talking to other owners with similar issues.

I couldn't find a rule on the forum here about posting links to outside groups/forums/personal sites, so just to be safe and sure I haven't broken rule please PM me for the link to the group if you are interested :)

Yes you are allowed to post links on here. I would be interested as I lost my dog to a auto immune disease last year.

Is this site still up?  I have a cat with an auto-immune disease but the local vet has done all she can and suggested a referral to OSU Veterinary School/Hospital.  My poor fellow has been through enough and I am not having a referral made.  I would like to know a prognosis, if possible.  He needs a dental cleaning, but I hate to put him through that if he is only going to be with me a short time.  Dottie

My vet n linewasn't able to get a diagnosis; that's why she suggested the referral.  The research I've done on line seems to indicate it might be lupus.

I can tell you from experience that University hospitals are great as far as the diagnostic equipment they have. I took my boy Gary to Auburn University which is a top veterinarian University. They tend to do as much researching as they can until you finally say hey stop is this really what is needed?? The stress that comes along with the testing is very high...My cat had FeLV we knew he was in his final days and that the stress was worth the risk bc we were going to lose him without blood transfusions and fluid drainage as well as several drugs we wanted to try that "normal" vets couldn't get. I completely understand you not wanting to put your baby through more, I hope you are able to find some help here or through another forum.
