We just had our visiting stray kitty Charlie neutered on Tuesday and since then (since he also had several infected wounds) he's been inside.

Since our other 2 boys were adopted from shelters they were already neutered and were kittens when we got them. Charlie is 1-2 years old according to the vet.

How long does it take for his kitty hormones to leave his system?

Do you guys think that will help him settle in to being an indoor kitty?

He's having a hard time right now.  He desperately wants to go outside! But with his shaved fur (in places to clean the wounds) and his infection still being treated he can't go outside right now! The goal of course is for him to live inside.

First, thank you for taking care of this outdoor cat--and getting him neutered.  The other Female Cats thank you!

Generally speaking it can take 2 to 4 weeks for the hormones to settle down entirely, the older the cat, the longer.  He could still impregnate a cat for around two weeks afterwards--though it might hurt HIM more than it would hurt HER.  (As I understand it, while he can't make viable sperm, he still has some viable sperm in him.)

Neutered cats almost always are calmer, friendlier post-neutering.  May take a few days/weeks, but you should see an improvement.  Now, he may still want outside, but that may have nothing to do with his neutering but more what he is use to, outdoor living.

He's making progress! My other cats are also tolerating him a little bit better. I look forward to them living together mostly peacefully lol
