Just joined today, and I have to say this is all pretty confusing to me. I've been on other sites before, but this one has me baffled. If I post in the wrong areas,or do something wrong-please just ignore it. Its nice to meet you all and see the beautiful pics of all the kitties. :)

Welcome to TSC, Steve.  Baffled how?   I was more overwhelmed by all of the info here when I first joined.  It took me weeks to post anything; I felt like such an amateur.

Keep noodling around - you should find a forum that interests you and then you can just dive in!  That's what happened to me when I discovered "Strays and Ferals."

I'm trying to work my way around. Hey,I'm good at clicking and seeing what happens. I was just thrown off about how to post pics in the galleries-they wouldn't take at all. I found out from a friend you have to be on here for awhile to be able to do more and more with the site. I've been on several forum sites, each has their own learning curve. Thanks!

Hi There, Stevernie!

I am also a NEWBIE, I have been registered for about three days....its a great site, LOTS of sub headings, subjects and thousands of participants.  Don't get overwhelmed....just take your time, explore and it will all come together.  I have found that the moderators are very nice and helpful, so if you need help I think that sending one of them a message will get you the clarification you need.

Welcome !

Tara

Welcome and love the cat in your avatar.  Is that your only furry companion?  I love red cats (and tuxedos and tabbies for that matter).  I hope that the forum can meet whatever needs you ;may have and that we can hear more about your cat and yourself.

So very true! Welcome to TCS. There can never be too much orange. So, what's the cute kitty in your avatar called, how did you two meet, how old is he, and where can we see more pics? If you need help with posting pictures there's a informative thread all about that and lots of other stuff here:

I hope you enjoy hanging out here

Awwww....that little orange boy is Steve. I have his profile listed on my page. I found the little bugger outside under a tree. Sadly,he was a bit beat up and tortured before I found him,BUT,he has come a long way from there over the last three years, and is very loving and trusting now. Love DOES conquer a LOT!

Thank you for the welcome-I do appreciate it. I finally was able to post more pics-thanks!

Thank you! Steve is the orangie, and I have a tuxedo Ernie. I've got to get some pics of him posted. I was a little frazzled yesterday posting things on a new site,I'll dabble a little today

Where I live in Florida they advertise cats the color of him as "red cats"  so yes, I do see that he is orange but I have just gotten used to the red cat tag.  My Sammi is a tuxedo and then I have a brown/black tabby Mickey that is a recent addition to our house.  I look forward to getting to see Ernie and love the names you have given them.  Do not worry about being frazzled.  I used to own and operate a tropical fish forum and I had trouble with it even though I set it up.  Every forum is a bit different.  If you need help just ask and someone will be there to give you an answer.  I am betting that most of us had some of the same problems at one time or another.

That may be true of other forums--it is on the one that I am a moderator on.  But I don't think that is true here.  I posted pics within just a few posts of joining.  Perhaps you are trying to upload something other than jpegs or gifs?

I got it to work today. I could only post pics in my profile yesterday, today I could in the galleries. Oh wel, I'm a happy girl now. :)

A lot of folks call them red cats. I think it depends your location what your used to. He does kind of look more red in the sunlight. I did post pics of Ernie boy too.
Your kitties are just adorable. My son has 3 brown/black and white tabbies. They sure do have an adventuresome personality!

My father used to even call them "pink" cats.  But I will call him whatever you like, he is gorgeous and so much expression.  Now that I have read his Cat Page he has had quite the life.  It makes me sad to think what some of our cat babies have gone through before we get them into homes where they will be loved and cared for.

Thank Goodness Steve found you and you can show him how a cat should live.

Welcome aboard, Steve!

If you look at the top of this area of TCS (New Cats on the Block), you'll see a pale blue box:

"Sticky" Threads for the "New Cats on the Block" forum". This area explains how to navigate/use the Cat Forum, the rules, and other things. Also, if you're ever unsure of something, please feel free to pm (private message) me (I'm a Mentor). Posts that are placed in the incorrect areas do get moved by the moderators to the correct area, though I'm sure they would greatly appreciate it if we would think about where we post before we post!
