Awwwh! Pretty Soft girl. She is a beautiful girl. I'm guessing that once upon a time her whiskers were black, too? She has the wise, soulful eyes that I love so much in the older kitties. Thank you for joining us, Soft. You go girl!

Dear pretty Fannie! What a sweet girl she looks to be, and so ladylike with her crossed legs. That is the face of a kitty with an awesome Mom! Most of the ages of my throng are nothing but guesses. (Did my Cookie come visiting you? That looks a lot like him in the background.)

He certainly carries his age well! I've always been a big fan of his beautiful coat. He looks like he's a good sized boy?

You know, I've never owned an elder cat before. The oldest I've ever had is Christy, and she's only seven or eight (her actual age is unknown; she was a rescue). As a kid, I had to live with a mom who didn't really care about cats, and the two cats I had as a child both died early, one to FeLV and the other to a coyote. What you folks have is so precious. It's something I wish I could have had with my cats--a full life, the time to really get to know each other, the time to see a cat grow up and grow old, instead of just being snatched away from you because the person making the decisions in your house doesn't care.

I hope to be back here in about eight years, when Christy is a graceful, petite, and wise little old lady cat.
We'll be looking for you and Christy in about 8 years! Thank you for reminding me of what a tremendous blessing having an elder pet is. I do treasure all of them, but the older ones are, of course, special, and there is no substitute for a long term relationship. I found Cookie in a warehouse loading area when he was just a wee little kitten of about 10 weeks, no momma around. He wasn't too sure about the human interaction stuff at first but quickly got the hang of it and turned into a little charmer of humans, cats, and even dogs!

He's not all that big.  10 lbs., I guess, average sized.  His adoption papers that I got from my friend say he's a snowshoe.  I really have always been partial to black cats but I love Travis' markings.

I've been thinking about your suggestion Susan--I'm trying to think of a clever adjective that starts with 'e' so we can start a thread of photos for our 11 year old babies!
   Anybody have any ideas?

Going by the photo I thought Travis was much bigger. You must just have itsy bitsy feet!
Now, who would have guessed that you're partial to black cats?
Must admit, I'm kind of fond of them myself.

Thanks for all the kind words, that's very nice of you.

Unfortunately, on the 22nd of February I had to let my girl go. She went peacefully and without a hitch. It's been two weeks today, a very weird two weeks without my girl that spent 18 years by my side.

I'm so sorry.  I lost my first cat at almost 18 years, too.  It's so difficult losing a beloved friend who's been part of our lives for so long.
