When I lost my son, I wasn't sure which way to turn.  He was very sick and his death was actually a blessing, yet ...

It took me a long time to understand that, yet there are still moments when I am caught by surprise at how much I miss him.  I can only say it does get better with time.  Although the void left by Kaitlyn's passing will never be filled, your life will form new "normals" and you will begin to enjoy things again.  What a blessing that Kaitlyn left Gatito, so that you each had help!

ps - my granddaughter's name is Kaitlyn Nicole.  Those two names used together are kind of rare.  I just thought that was neat...

I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved daughter. I too , do believe animals have a sixth sense. I have experienced this 1st hand myself.

The cat is probably sensing her presence if she is able to visit. Talk to her kitty I'm sure she is grieving for her as well. I know cat's do grieve

as well.

It's impossible to find the right words....if there were such a thing, in my deepest imagination could never truly understand just what you must be going through, as I have not been there.  In my opinion, no parent should EVER have to bear the pain and suffering that surely comes with the loss of a child. There is no recovery, how can there be? Why it happens....well, we will never know. Not in this lifetime at least.

All to do is grieve, feel devastated, angry, guilty, regretful, life changing.

At some point in time, you will come back to the current time, because reality of life is, although she is gone, you are not. We must accept what we are unable to change.

I wish you the best from the bottom of my heart.

I did want to share something with you about cats and their spirituality and intuition from my own recent experience. I do not believe in any way that you are imagining what you have seen in her cat.

I have had other experiences in the past, but this most recent incident was the most obvious.

Just about 2 weeks ago, my mom and I were playing Gin in the dining room at the table.  Now, my mom is close to 77 yrs old, and not a believer in things that are unseen, though she knows that I am.

So we're playing cards, we are both good so it's quiet, just concentrating on the game.

We both began hearing something at the back door, tap tap tap....tap.....taptap.....we both heard it. She asked what is that, I said I didn't know but it sounded like the magnet on the screen might be blowing from wind and tapping the door. (I have one of those hanging mesh screens)

So it stops, we didn't really think much of it. Then it starts again. I glance outside....no wind at all. Nada. So she goes to look, opens the back door, nothing. During this time my 2 cats were taking their usual afternoon siestas, out cold. Krissy on her plush sheepskin rug, Simone turned on her back and sort of curled around, paws in the air.

Mom sits back down, we dismissed it again but thought odd however/whatever.

A few minutes later, after the tapping stops for the second time, the kitchen floor made a creeking sound, there's a spot that creeks if you walk there. She looks at me and I said something goofy like oooooweeeeoooooo, you know :) Teasing.

The next thing I know there is a distinct but not really describable shuffling sound that rushed from the kitchen to where we are, right past us. At that very instant we looked up and around, at each other, what the hell is that?!

I could feel a coolness when the shuffling sound went past, and suddenly saw Simone sitting upright like a statue, frozen with one paw raised in front of her, as she began this high toned constant meowmeowmeow.....I quietly said to my mom, look at her....omg what is she doing??! I called Simones name several times, she would NOT look at me, didn't move, not even her tail (as she always does when I say her name) nothing.

She stopped the strange high toned meowing, but stayed in that frozen odd state, just staring straight ahead like someone was in front of her. For a good solid 3 minutes. During this time we were talking about it, what was happening, there is something or some presence here. My mom could not deny it. She saw with her own eyes, felt the presence.

As suddenly as it came, it was gone, Simone responded to me and came over to me, but went right back to where she had been staring, and was sniffing the carpeting there, over and over, rubbing her face on the spot, then pawing. She laid down right on top of that spot.

I went over and picked her up, inspect that there was not a tiny bug or anything else there, put her down in the dining room, she went right back to that spot again, sniffing, rubbing her face, then laying down covering it.

My house was built in the 40's, and I have no idea of it's history except that the woman who owned it prior was put into a home and had passed away. She was an artist and a huge cat lover. (I know, had to replace the carpeting years prior when I moved in)

Just wanted to share that it's clear to me that cat's DO infact have a high spiritual sense. I would believe your daughter's cat, especially the bond they shared, he feels and even sees her presence.

Oh I just loved that story!!  I believe that a person's spirit can visit us here and also that animals can sense this.  I have experienced this a few times.  Thank you so much.

I am very saddened to hear about this, and my mind reels thinking about what you are going through. What happened to your daughter is every parent's nightmare, I'm so so sorry.
Love is the strongest force in the universe, but there's nothing we can do to keep our children from the path they feel they must walk. I've no doubt that Kaitlyn's spirit comes around checking on you and Gatito; I hope you and he bring each other much comfort in the days ahead.
Thank you so very much for your kind words. It means a lot.

Thank you so very much.  I always thought my daughter's name was very beautiful.  Back in 1990 when she was born, I had never heard of the name Kaitlyn before, now it's more common.  Still very beautiful to me.  There's also many ways to spell it.

I'm so sorry about the death of your son.

I hope it's ok if I post this video slide I made of my daughter.  It's not very long and I see that there is a place you can insert a youtube video so I assume it's ok.  I know this is not an "I lost my child to death" forum, but this post was about the relationship of my daughter and her cat Gatito.  Though I don't think I included him in this one, I wanted ya'll to know a little about my daughter through this video.  To know me, is to know my daughter because she was and still is part of me.

She was brilliant and one of the most amazing people I have ever had the pleasure to know.  She was also, very sweet.  Thank you for looking.  I promise I won't continue to post about this, but wanted to share a part of me right now.

The video is just beautiful. As I watched.....not just pictures but a whole story, her life, as she grew, things she did and felt, and where it looked like her life was headed......just so ubruptly cut off, the saddest part to me is that, in rough times, we forget, time changes everything. Just get through those rough times, even if by doing nothing else but hide away in bed, because the fact still remains, time will change this bad time too. On to better things, better feelings, healed heart, and so on.

So much more to live, experience, love, be loved. Tragically sad.
