My name is Lindsey and my soon to be one-year-old's name is Arya (pronounced R-E-Uh, Game of Thrones, everyone has issues pronouncing lol!) I adopted her from a shelter this past May and she is my first cat ever. I can definitely say I will probably own cats for the rest of my life I cannot explain enough how much she means to me, she is one spoiled little girl! It has gotten so bad that when talking about a week long vacation in the summer one of my first responses is 'Oh wow being away from Arya for that long is going to be difficult' instead of that statement being about my boyfriend hahaha! One thing I will say that I love about cats (and this may just be because Arya is not a very social cat) but I love how having a cat of your OWN completely changes your view of cats. And what I mean by that is she is not affectionate towards anyone but me and my boyfriend (mostly me though, she's a mamas girl). It seems so sweet that she only loves me where as dogs love on anyone that walks in the door lol. Makes you feel special
I am hoping to get another cat soon, I had adopted a kitten in late December and after spending 4 days laying in bed with her trying to nurse her back to health via force feeding with syringes and frequent vet visits (over $1000) she was euthanized due to feline distemper on December 21st. It was incredibly heart breaking, her name was Lizzie and she was the sweetest thing, even fell asleep on my chest a few times. The shelter was notified but I am not sure they are really doing anything about it. There was 3 other cats brought to the same hospital we brought Lizzie that had the same disease from the same shelter. Arya has had all of her shots and got a booster after the fact and the vets have assured me there is nothing to worry about, saying that her age helps because even if she did contract the disease her immune system is well enough to fight it off. It has been over a month, obviously, with no issues.
~~So! 2 more months for me and I can get a new kitten! So excited to expand, I feel a little guilty giving my love to another cat than Arya, but she will have someone to play with while were away at work. Here are some photos! (Profile pic is Arya when she was still a kitten
She has the cutest shape! She is skinny and slender, long tail, with a very small face! So adorable!!! The last photo is one of Arya and Lizzie, Arya started to warm up to her the last days, but I feel like she knew she was sick, and that's why she started being nice. I don't think she's going to be very happy with the next kitten
