Hey folks,

How often would you use Revolution (fleas/ticks/mites + hook/round/heartworm) on our indoor cats. - each dose (tube) lasts 1 month.

How about Drontal (all manner of worms)  - each dose (pill) lasts 3 months.

He likely will come into contact with a family member's dog in the near future, so worm and flea etc. transfer is a possibility I suppose.

Edit - perhaps Drontal for all purpose worms, then HeartGuard for Heartworm prevention.

That may seem more economical.

Then only treat for flea/tick/mites if i see evidence - Revolution seems expensive to use routinely.

So you're talking about using these "in case"?  Not because you have seem evidence of anything already?  Is the dog already being treated so it should be parasite free?  (just asking)

Honestly, I've never needed to treat my furkids for parasites, so I'm hoping someone else will come on and answer your question.

Hi MsGreenJeens, yes...a just in case scenario, preventative.

Yet, I obviously wasn't thinking too clearly.  It's winter here...I'm not about to see mosquitos anytime soon, although in the summer months, I presume there's a slim possibility of the cat getting bitten (Heartworm).

The other worms (hook/tape/round etc.) are killed by Drontal.  I thought maybe the dog could transfer it to him.

Yes, I presume the dog would be treated for worms, good point - although they can be absent minded and forget to give their dog a dose.

At best, I would do it for ~ 5-6 months of the year.

I'm probably way over thinking this.

That's because you want to make sure your furbaby (ies?) is safe!  I understand that completely.  If no one responds here, I'd just put a call in to my Vet and ask.  They should be able to tell you, OR, you could call whoever owns the dog and make sure they are up to date on their parasite meds.
