My kitty Arya had really bad diarrhea yesterday afternoon and there was blood in it as well. I took a sample to my vet and they did a check and said that there are no parasites or anything found in the stool so they suggested I just get something to settle her tummy if something was bothering her. She had diarrhea again this morning and in it I found a piece of plastic from a treat bag she had tore open the other day. (I saw that she had tore it open, but had no idea she had consumed the piece of plastic!) There was no blood in it this morning so I did not call the vet back because they said to come back if there was still blood and she is acting completely normal so I was just curious if maybe this was all caused by that tiny piece of paper/plastic (whatever the material is!). That maybe it was just a little difficult for her to pass that through her little body maybe? She hasn't had diarrhea since this morning, so I am hoping that is all it was. If she has it again, I will be taking her back up to the vet, just creating this in case someone else has gone through something similar. This is my first cat so I am not a veteran lol Thanks!!!!!

Have you accounted for all the missing plastic? You'll be more sure and comfortable once she eats and has a normal bowel...that's when I'd relax. You may just want to give your vet the information about the plastic and see what he recommends.

It could definitely be from the plastic causing an irritation.  Keep a close eye on her for more diarrhea and/or vomiting.  If she does that, she may have a blockage so get her to the vet asap.

All of the plastic is accounted for, the small piece that she passed was a perfect match to the small piece that was missing from the bag. She has not had diarrhea all day, but she also has not pooped either which is now what I am worried about. Ah the stress is never ending!!!! I am a bit of a worry wart.  She is acting pretty normal. If she doesn't poop by tomorrow morning I am probably going to go to the vets, at least call them. They did prescribe metronidazole to give to her twice a day, but that was prescribed when she had diarrhea and wasn't blocked up so I had given it to her this morning, but I am not giving it to her tonight.

Good news! I just emptied her litter box and she had a regular bowel movement! Thank goodness! I feel so much better! Thank you everyone, I am sure that the piece of the treat bag she swallowed was probably responsible for everything.

That is excellent news!! I'd just closely observe...bowels, urine, eating, and drinking. I would definitely take to vet if anything appears not normal. Remember the weekend is coming up and that's usually when bad luck happens ;)

Everything is back to normal! Yesterday I thought she was acting a bit sluggish but I forget overall she's a pretty lazy kitty (and forgot im a bit of a worry wart). She had a regular, good sized bowel movement today! Lol I appreciate everyone's help :)

I have an 11 year old cat (12 next week) and she has bowel problems. I carefully scrutinise her litter tray every day and feel like celebrating every time she does a poop! I never, ever thought a cat litter tray could be a source of such stress lol!
Glad your fur baby is doing so much better!
