Is it because I'm pregnant?

When I first got my cat I was about 12 weeks pregnant.  I adopted him from the Humane Society and he was about 2 1/2 years old.  He was OK at first.  He would let me pet him, he would interact with me and seek out my attention.  At night he was always dying to get in my room so I started leaving the door open for him and he'd stay curled up at my back all night.  He wasn't super friendly, but he was OK.  Now I'm 33 weeks pregnant and I've noticed a huge change in his behavior over the last maybe 6 weeks.  Not only does he not stay curled up at my back all night anymore, he sleeps in hall.  Every night for the past 6 weeks, though, he does come in 2-3 times during the night and meows loudly in my face waking me up.  I've never gotten out of bed when he does this and he always leaves quickly and goes into the bathroom and does what I call crying.  His meows turn deep and strange sounding, it's more of a low, throat meow.  It sounds really depressing.  If I try to pet him he bites me.  I've thought maybe he's sick before, but he'll still play with his string toy with me (the only toy he's ever played with), he still eats just like he always did, he still drinks water, poo looks fine to me, he still loves to sit in the window and watch the birds...  The only thing that seems to have changed is the way he behaves toward me.  Is it possible he's acting like this because I'm more pregnant and he knows?  I've heard dogs can tell you're pregnant, but can cats?  And if he's acting like this now, I'm a little worried about what's going to happen when I suddenly bring a baby home.

I presume you got him neutered from the shelter, but still:  IS he neutered?  Such sounds are typical for toms.

Otherwise I agree, he surely notices you are pregnant.  But if this is the cause to such change in his behavior, I dont know.  Many others would get even more protective instead.

Yes he was neutered when I got him.  He only makes these sounds in the bathroom too, it's the same routine every night now.  He is definitely not protective, he never has been.  He's always been distant but this is pretty bad.  He won't seek out my attention at all anymore, unless it's time to eat which is obvious because he runs to his food bowl when I get near him.  Any other time I try to interact he's obviously annoyed.  His ears will lay back, he'll get up and move, or as I said before he'll bite if I touch him.
