Hi Elizabeth-

I have a Orange Eyed White Persian who is deaf and I was just wondering(Not sure of this is a suitable question for you?) if we can breed from her?

Would Muffin pass on the deafness?

Thanks In Advance
Sam-

Take a look at my answer to "white cat, blue eyes". The dominant white gene can be associated with a variety of eye colors, so I think it likely that any white kittens from your Muffin would likely be deaf too. Of course, if Muffin is heterozygous at that white locus (that's just the place on the chromosome where a gene is situated), then the second allele (form of the gene) is different.....that's what heterozygous means. So any non-white kittens should be fine as far as hearing is concerned.
