Scabs?

One of my cats, Kevin, who is all white, has these "things" that appear on the sides of his chin.

Our first thought was "flea dirt", but not only is it not flea season, but we rarely ever have flea issues here in Seattle due to our weather. Not only that, but combing him reveals no sign of fleas.

Our other guess is possible scabs from scratching his chin.

Does any have any experience with this sort of thing?

Any help is appreciated!!

Sounds like feline acne. Do you feed him out of a pastic bowl ? Plastic bowls are well known for causing this. ;)

Nope. They eat out of a metal bowl.

And would their acne be black and flea dirt like?

Sounds like feline Acne, as long as it isn't infected looking you can just used Benzoyl Peroxide pads (Stridex or the likes) from the store on the chin a couple times a day.  I would make sure you wash the dishes every day with soap and water.  If it is scabby or looks infected you need to go to the vet to get antibiotics.
