Hi all, I adopted a rescue kitten in November, she's about 6 months old now. She has a ferocious appetite!! I have never seen a little cat eat so much in my life. If I grab something from the fridge and she hears it, she immediately starts meowing and she will follow me to see if she can get some of what I have.  When I open up a can of food, she pushes the other cats out of the way so that she can get to it first and she gobbles it all up. When she first came here, she has a raging URI...bubbles coming out of her nose and constant watery eyes, yet she still ate like a little pig despite the fact that she was ill. Do you think I should be concerned about this? Is it normal? She has a ton of energy and her bathroom habits are completely normal. Thank you!!

Ok a few questions

What cat food do you feed her ?
How many meals a day ?
How much in total do you feed her in a day ?
Has she been wormed ?

Hi, I feed her Wellness grain-free canned food. I give her about 2-3 small cans a day, but it's really hard to say exactly how much she is eating in total because she has a habit of going around to my other cats' bowls and taking some of their food as well. She plays all day, so I just assumed that was the main reason that she eats so much. When I adopted her, they gave me her medical records and she has been wormed.

You could try feeding her little and often. Say about 5-6 meals a day. This might just make her feel fuller for longer. She should grow out of it as she gets older. But I think feeding little and often might just satisfy her hunger cavings for now

Sometimes the deworming should be done again - in fact, its common.  Depends also on the dewormer used.

Is she allowed out?   If pure inside, and the others are pure inside,  new deworming is seldom necessary.

Otherwise, a very lively growing kitten,  racing around and playing much, does ates surprisingly much...  Both kittens and boys are renown for that...

Good luck!

Stephan,  Thank you for responding. I am definitely going to ask my vet about it. She just had a check up and he did not say anything about it, so I will email him. All of my cats are strictly indoor. She seems very healthy, so maybe I am just worried for no reason.

While I agree with StefanZ that it can't hurt to check about the deworming, a 6 month old kitten is often a hungry hungry hippo... as long as the kitten is active and healthy, it is no cause for concern!
