My cat has heart disease and takes 4 different  pills twice a day.  Anyone have any suggestions on how to give pills?  She has been taking them since Sept.  Some days I use cheese, some days soft treats. Usually it works but several days she won't take them.

Can you compound the medication into a flavored liquid?
I failed at giving Ritz pills, but she has no problem taking medication compounded into a liquid and flavored with tuna, chicken or even bubblegum.
Have you tried Pill Pockets?

I cut or crush the pills into gel capsules.  So far, my cats do not object to eating the capsule amongst food.  I make a treat breakfast made up of 1-2 teaspoon of friskies' pate and 6-8 kibbles.  The capsule is placed next to/top of a kibble in the hopes it gets gobbled up.  My cats love kibble but I limit it to snack servings only.  It's worked perfectly so far except a couple of days ago when one of the capsules broke mid-meal and that put the cat off.  I ended up grabbing another capsule and popping it into her mouth...and she finished eating another breakfast (I threw other one out).

I use gel capsule size 4 and it's a similar size to kibble.  If you are unable to fit all the meds in one capsule, you may want to look into a slightly larger size or divide the meds into 2 capsules.  I guess it works for my cats as the capsules are innocuous in taste and odor.  Left in a plate, they'll treat it as food. Now if I take that capsule and pop into their mouths...

Hi there.  I am in the exact same boat.  My boy was just diagnosed with Heart Disease and Severe Arthritis.   So he is now on 4 pills and 2 liquids twice  a day.  I have another cat who has had some chronic issues and was notoriously difficult to pill.  What works for my girl is doggie chicken flavored pill pockets.  I just take a small section of it just enough to cover the pill and give it to her, she gobbles them right up.  My boy I cover the pills but still have to drop them down his throat which he is NOT thrilled in the least bit with.

You know I never thought about using a doggie size pill pocket, maybe more good taste to hide the bad taste.  Good idea.

I also read/tried that you should use different hands to pick up the pill and hold the pill pocket--you want to avoid the taste of the pill (especially if tablet versus capsule form) transferring onto the pill pocket.

Vet tech suggested crushing the pills and dissolving in water, and squirting them in his mouth.  You have to be careful with that though, like any liquid medicine.  I haven't tried it.  The pills I'm giving Cindy, vet said I could crush them all together.
