Hey I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on this beauty I'm adopting tomorrow. I don't really care about his bread but his markings are very distinctive. After loosing 2 out of 4 of my babies last week to poisoning I have had 2 in less than a week needing a new forever home. Please feel free to comment on what you may think his breed may be.

The photo not very clear, but useable here.   This is apparently no real bengal. BUT the tabby markings not the most usual either.  Its my guess he has an Ancestor, say, a bengal granddad.

So do I think.

Im sorry for your two cats whom got poisoned.   Did they got poisoned inside, or outside?   Being inside only is usually the safest.

And I do praise your will to take your new furry friends whom cats whom do need to get a new home.  Saving their lifes.   Its the best way to honor the late ones.

Hi @Ann trent    Im not sure if you got an answer.  Your kitty is obviously very spottet.  It can be seen already here on the stomach - its not the usual spots mackerel and classcial tabbies may have on their tummy.

The other pics confirming!

Although just because he is so obviously spotted, its clear its no typical bengal spots.

He may be a domestic spotted tabby,  OR with  Ancestor of bengal or oci-cat.   I would guess on near ancestor of ocicat.

Yes, I can understand this.  Many different thoughts too, including probably some self accusations.

I was recently in a situation where I got several heavy losses where my protegées went on.  But by a serial of unusual happenings, I got my hands on a good reproduction of a pretty wellknown - but in practice not so common - paint by Marie Wunsch:

After some thoughts  I got the insight it was a sign from Above.  What it exactly showed may be difficult to know for sure.

But what it was sure, I was forgiven if there were any shortcomings from my side.

Im thus forwarding this symbol to you and your kids.  May it help you too.

That is a lovely gesture. Thank you. Would you like to see the 2 I lost and my remaining other kitties?

Yes, it would be nice.    :)

Perhaps best you start a new tread for them - as this tread is for bengal-alike tabbies.... :)

Hi I bought my fur baby from a Bengal breeder, who assured me he was a full bengal. She also had two Savannah's, but no sign of any other cats. He will be one tomorrow and weighs 6,5kgs, he has all the traits and signs of a bengal, so don't understand what you are saying about his spots and not being a Bengal.

Im not saying he is no bengal,  Im really just saying he is not of show quality bengal.

And as you DID bought him from a bengal breedere whom assured you he is a bengal, we dont need no longer to debate, what sort of spotted cat he is.   :)

Also, observe,  most cats in this thread arent bought from a bengal breeder. most are adorable tabbies from the street - whom perhaps are somewhat bengal look alikes...

So please forgive me for my try to analyse.    :)

The only left is, if you got his papers and pedigree with you - which is always good, even if you dont have plans on participation in Shows nor in breeding.

Marbled bengal or marbled tabby. Any thoughts?
I would describe your cat as a brown classic tabby domestic shorthair. Your cat has a beautiful classic tabby pattern, with clearly apparent "bullseye" markings. Very good looking cat you have there! :)
