Ok so the head shaking is definitely due to itchyness. Yesterday at the vet Lucy was weight and since December she lost a little over a pound. He ordered a full blood work and checked her all over and gave her a depot medrol I think was the steroid shot (don't have the paper in front of me) he said it should help with the itchyess in the ears and he wants to see if that has anyaffect on her digestion issues. He said the blood work will be back Monday and we should no more then.

Lucy is peeing a lot now. Is that from the steroid ?

One side effect from the drug is excessive thirst, and what goes in must come out, so I would definitely say it her peeing a lot could be from the steroid.  Hopefully she is keeping it in her litter box

Overall, though, how is she doing?  Did it help with her head shaking and her appetite?   So.....what exactly is the "mother's milk" that you purchased?  Does she like it?

Hello and happy easter. Her head shaking has been reduced a lot but she still shakes it. I guess its possible she might be allergic to poultry or something else. Her appetite is definitely back , she's been eating regularly since the shot on Friday . so far no vomiting but her belly still makes the growling/gassy sounds. The vet mentioned that the notice may be due to a certain bacteria in her gut and he will decide if he wants to put her on medication for that .the results from the blood work will be in today so I will update this later on tonight . hopefully there's no cancer or any other major issues .

Oh like I said earlier she's eating normally but hasn't made a bowl movement. The vet said she wasn't constipated on friday . is it possible because she's eating raw its just taking longer to make a movement?

Hi so the vet just called and said Lucy's blood work came back and one of her liver enzymes was slightly elevated and that's most likely due to the ibd. He said other than that her blood work was perfect. , he wants to see her again in 3/4 weeks and said the depot medrol shot he gave her usually lasts around 3 weeks.

OK so you're in a watch and wait mode now?  As for the stool, if she had stopped eating (not clear to me) then it might take a couple of days for her to poop one she's started eating. If she was constipated she would strain at the box and loose her appetite.

It's wonderful tht she is eating normally again
. So what is it she's eating now?  Yes, definitely on raw their bowel movements are much less (in frequently and amount...sometimes just once every couple of days, and just a small amount)  Honestly, I would still think about getting her on a good probiotic.  I really think it would help with that gurgling in her tummy.  Most people feeding raw use a good probiotic with it.  Was this discussed at all?  When I started on raw, I used both a probiotic AND prozyme.

I have prozyme and just ran out of fortiflora. She's eating raw chicken breast/ thigh, chicken liver, chicken heart. I chop them up and make Lucy meals in zip locks. I add prozyme, and I'm currently trying to find out if I need other supplements to add to it since I'm not using bone of egg because I think she's allergic to egg.

Fortiflora, IMHO is NOT a good probiotic anyway.  It is a single strain probiotic, and so is quite limited.  This is the one many people here use:  .

As to supplements to her raw food, you DEFINITELY need to be giving her some calcium, which I would not even call a SUPPLEMENT.  Currently her food is not 100% nutritionally complete, unless you are giving her that Mother's Milk, which I would guess is actual Mother's Milk, which should have lots of calcium in it.  But the rule of thumb when feeding raw is 80% muscle meat (breast, thigh, heart) 10% secreting organs (liver, kidney, pancreas), 10% bone or other form of calcium.  What makes you think she is allergic to egg.?  I thought you thought she might be allergic to the actual chicken.  Weren't you feeding Radcat?  They have chicken, or is that the problem...because they use eggshell powder as their source of calcium?

I'm currently trying to narrow down her allergies and I know for sure seafood is one. I've begun testing different things trying to see her reaction to them and it seems when I try giving her any form of egg she starts scratching 2seconds after smelling them. I have been putting the mothers milk in her food until I comeup with an alternative to dried eggshell.

So it's in powdered form then?  Did they tell you how much it equates to, calcium wise?  In other words, how much to use for x number of ounces of raw meat?  That's very important, as too much calcium can cause constipation, too little cn cause issues with bone weakness, etc. (plus diarrhea)

I was told to sprinkle. About a 1/4 of a tea spoof on each meal. My poor little goosey Lucy vomited today , we ran out of raw and my wife had a can of instinct need and in a pinch gave it to her and about an hr later she vomited all her food she had in her belly. Food is becoming an issue because I know she's allergic to seafood and she has been Sneezing and scratching after eating her chicken ,heart and liver. The sneezing is new . she's never done that before . I have to find a different protein besides chicken . I don't think she has vomited raw beef yet and she has eaten it in the past. I just don't want to spend. A lot and then she doesn't eat it

also her belly is still rumbling and sounds gassy. he said that might be due to a bacteria that i will never be able to type or pronounce sry. he said to check for the bacteria lucy will ave to undergo a colonoscopy and then a treatment can be made. When her belly grumbles and gurgles its usually a sign shes gonna have a bad day. and today is gonna be a bad day as she doesnt want to eat again. poor kitties.

She's so cute
.

Now, as to that bacteria in her gut that makes it gurgle, etc., here is a probiotic that contains an extra ingredient that one of our members used when her cats got clostridium perfringens, which I guess is a really nasty intestinal "thing".          I know a few of our members now use this as their everyday probiotic, especially those who feed raw, just as a preventative measure.   The best way to get gut flora in balance is with a probiotic, as far as I know.  Can you ask your holistic folks about it?  Did they not mention probiotics if they are talking bacteria in her intestines?

So...on the colostrum, did you ask them if that was enough calcium to make the raw you are serving 100% nutritional?  If it isn't, you can buy powdered bone.  Here's a thread on using either eggshells OR powdered calcium:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/263426/...hydroxyapatite-to-balance-meat-or-meat-organs

Hope Lucy's day improves

in my  endless  quest for an allergy  free lucy  im ruling out egg as a possibility  so i  ordered should receive  today  the Eggshell Powder from  alnutrin.  so  i will  be adding that to  her  lamb which  i will be  chopping and dicing all night.

I'm confused
.  I thought you had already pretty  much confirmed that she WAS allergic to eggs.  What changed?  Also, you know Alnutrin makes a supplement that uses calcium vs eggshell powder, right?  (just making sure)

i thought she was allergic to  egg because of the canned and kibble she was on had that as an ingredient. I then isolated it and turns out egg isnt the issue.

Lucy isnt doing well, she vomited again today and   after vomiting she  kept trying to lay down  but wasnt able to. As her side  went down to  the floor she stood back  up  and over and over again she did this about 10  times. her apt with the vet is set for mothers day which is may 11th. the steroid   the vet gave her  made her feel better and eat  but there has to be something  else wrong with her. He said her blood work came back great except for a slightly elevated liver value but he said that would be slightly elevated due to the ibd. Her xray and ultrasound in December came back ok aswell. Shes just  not acting  like my  lucy and i have a very  bad feeling  about  this. Also after she vomited she was walking  like she was confused and disoriented. i took a video of it and will  try and post  it. the vomit was food from this morning and once again her belly  was gurgling  and rumbling again  today.

With all the vomiting, could her blood sugar levels be getting dangerously low? This could explain the confusion and disorientation. When was the last time she had her glucose levels checked?

Is she doing any better today?  Can she lay down now without issues?  Poor girl.  I really don't get that gurgling, since she doesn't have diarrhea.  Vomiting comes from the stomach, and I would think that gurgling would be from the intestines, but could be wrong
