i have a question..i met a stray cat at a strip mall ive been stopping at recently she is very sweet and i bring her food everytime im there and found that other people who work in the strip mall also leave her food and water and also a nice safe warm place to sleep...but i feel like she used to be someones pet and i think she deserves a safe home, like mine :) but i am afraid to stress her by changing her environment..what my question is, do you think it would be better to leave her be where she is or try to bring her home with me? I do have other cats and i will be taking her quite a distance away from her "home" now..

How wonderful it would be for you to bring her home and give her a wonderful loving home.  If she is friendly enough, you might be able to lure her into a carrier with some yummy tuna, salmon, sardines, etc..  If not then you would need a humane trap.

If you decide to bring her home, you will want to get her to a vet immediately before exposing your other cats to her.  You will want to see if she is spayed/neutered as well as if she might have a micro chip.  Since she has been living outside she could have fleas/ticks, worms and you would want to have her checked for FIV/FelV.

Are you planning to keep her in the house only?  If not she will try to find her way back to the strip mall.  There is a process of keeping them inside the house or garage for a period of 3 weeks so that she acclimates to her new surroundings.  Hopefully someone else will come along and explain the process to you.  Hopefully you will decide to keep her as an indoor only cat.

If you do bring her inside, she will need a room of her own for awhile.  First to settle herself and secondly to allow your other cats to get used to her scent.  Here are some guidelines for cat to cat introductions http://www.thecatsite.com/a/introducing-cats-to-cats

Thank you for caring about her.  I hope it works out and she is home with you soon.

If she is not feral, I would definitely trap her and take her home.  She may not be spayed and will thus end up pregnant - the last thing she needs!  A home with other cats is way more preferable than a home outside.

If you can offer her a home, do so!  Just remember not to introduce her to your resident kitties until she's been vet checked.  Then, take it slowly.  She will need to be confined for at least two weeks so she gets used to her new home.  A spare room is ideal...

Thank you for helping her!

Oh she would without a doubt be indoor only, as are all of my cats
but here is why I feel guilty, a few of my cats are actually not mine, I was never supposed to keep them, they were kittens born to a stray i adopted, and still have, now it's 2 years later and soon I will be handing them over to a wonderful agency that uses foster care only bc I cannot have all the cats i have...but I feel she deserves this home ...is it wrong to do this? I just think she deserves some comfort..and i will take her to vet before i bring her home

Can the agency help you with her, too?  You can foster her, get her acclimated to being back inside, and they can help find her a home?

I may do that, but somehow I feel "pulled" to her...like we were meant to meet..there is something there...not that i am not crazy in love with the ones i cant keep but they deserve to be in a happier home they compete too much for my affection and its making some unhappy
