@hexiesfriend  I hope to see her like that soon!

Guys, do you have any advices on how to take care of her after spaying? I really don' t know anything about it.

I also took the two brothers inside because of the snow, should I be worried about keep her with them around?

One of the boys is acting weird... I caught him humping on his brother, I was shocked to see that... And he seems to be very agitated/nervous.

When he did that I felt bad for his brother because the brother is very quiet and sweet, he would just run every time. I separated them and put the humping cat in a room and closed the door, he was meowing loudly.

Them I opened the door and left them for a minute, when I came back he was trying to eat the chicken I was defrosting on the sink.

I brought them home before many times (whenever the weather is bad outside) and he never acted like that. Can it be because he's missing his sister?

I know males don't go into heat. I just found his behavior weird and different from before....

Thank you!
After her spaying, she will need a quiet place to recoop.  You can use a spare room that she has all to herself or a large dog cage.  I am sure the vet will give you instructions for her care.  I would not let her brothers around her for a few days.

Are the boys neutered?  If not you should get them neutered as well.  This will help with their behavior.  The humping comes natural to them as they want to mate.  Their hormones are rushing.  If you do not get them neutered, you will find yourself with more and more kittens.

The boys aren't neutered. They are feral cats that live in our backyard and I feed them. I'll look for low cost neutering in my area. At the clinic the girl was spayed it costs 110 dollars, but I hope I can find cheaper.

Males are usually cheaper. Where I live females are 95 and males 65.

Jezz is already home and apparently feeling better. She's very annoyed with the elizabethan collar though. She wants to get rid of it at all costs but the vet said we should keep it for 10-12 days so she won't lick or bite her tail.

One thing I thought it was weird was that the vet didn't prescribe anything for her, except for Neosporin with sugar on her tail, he said bacteria likes sugar so that way her surgery wouldn't get infected. He said she doesn't need meds 'cause he gave her shots that work for 2 weeks. She also can eat normally if she desires.

I thought she would want to be left alone, but no, she's following me wherever I go. Lol Her favorite spot is laying down on the bed with her mommy, especially on mommy's tummy or lap. She's the cutest little thing. Hubby fell in love as well and we're keeping her for good.

What a cutie!! Please get her some pain meds she does need some. In the olden days vets used to not prescribe it. Also you will be tempted to take the collar off don't do it. Because the wound will be itchy she will start biting it a lot and it will be hard to put the collar back on. Cats, I found out the hard way, will actually bite off their injured tails. Kit kat in the photo above, did that with her tail before it came off and did it to the unhealed stump. So keep the collar on until you are sure it's healed. I got her spayed after the tail was amputated and healed.

You don't always need pain medication.  I have neutered 4 males and the only pain meds they received was an injection that lasted for about 12-24 hours after the surgery.  I would imagine she received the same.  If you find she is uncomfortable, you can call the vet and ask for meds, but most won't need it for spay/neuter surgery.  I am not sure about her tail.  Just watch her closely and if she seems in distress, you can ask for some medication.

I hope you can find a way to get the boys neutered too.  In my part of the country, we have low cost spay/neuter clinics and males are only $45 and this includes a rabies shot too.  Also depending on your location within the county, the clinics off vouchers for either free or $10 spay/neuter.

If you want the best for these cats, please consider spaying and neutering all of them or you will have a huge problem on your hands soon.  You might want to contact a rescue organization and see if they can help you out.  Neutering of the males is very simple.  They come home that same day and need just one night in your house before they can be released back out to their territory.  If you allow the males to mature, they will become very territorial and begin to fight.  They also will wander in search of females.  Kitten season is just around the corner.

I am so happy that Jezz has been spayed and her tail fixed too.  You are a kind and generous person for helping her.

She is a little cutie. Bless you for taking her in and getting her the care she needed. Hope you are able to get the boys neutered soon.

Jezabel is one lucky girl to have found you and she is just darling. It is great that you are taking her in permanently. I agree with Shadowsrescue, don't give pain meds unless absolutely necessary. They can be extremely risky to cats, especially Metacam. I also would like to hear that you will be getting all of the cats neutered (TNRd). I hope you can find an organization to help you otherwise, more and more kittens/cats. :( I like to say - if you feed.... do not let them breed. Thank you for caring so much for the homeless kitties. :hugs:

When I first started reading this thread I thought.....oh boy...a tail hanging like a rope is bad, very bad.

I soon was relieved to see it's just the end of her tail.

(when a tail is limp and hanging it usually means the cat has nerve damage and becomes incontinent, therefore just about impossible to find a home for)

Tail amputation at the vet I use in my rescue charges me $100.00.

Anyway, WONDERFUL news!! I also love that you are going to keep her, or at least try :)

Now for her and the boys...

SHE is going to smell like she is in heat, and the boys will nail her, which is dangerous for her newly spayed body.

Yes, siblings mate, all the time.

You absolutely must keep them both away from her.

As for the 2 boys, this is common for males intact to have raging hormones and will attempt to mate any cat around.

It's almost torture for them to be so overcome by these feelings, they need neutering asap. The more aggressive one will also bite the other, then you will have more problems as they always get infected.

This problem appears to have been solved before I came along.  But I also ended up with a cat that needed tail surgery.

Where I was living at the time, we had all kinds of injured animals come up to us for help.  One was a black tuxedo Main Coon-looking cat that had been in a vicious fight and had gotten his tail broken.  I carried him into the vet the next day.  The office staff asked if he was my cat.  I answered, "He will be once I pay his bill".  We had many strays in the area, and no one had claimed him.

Blackie was also neutered at that time, The vet had to amputate the tail and all was done at the same time.  I do not remember how much it cost as this was more than 30 years ago.  But it was successful and Blackie was with us for a number of years until a meddlesome neighbor got into the act.  And that is all I will say about that.

Haha! You are probably right! The doctor probably said 2 days and not 2 weeks! I'll keep an eye on her. She's finding it hard to use the litter box and she found a way of licking her tail, even with the collar. So I applied Neosporin and cut  a clean sock  wrapping around her tail but leaving it loose so it wouldn't constrict anything, I used a rubber band to hold it to the base of her tail and made sure it isn't too tight. When she tries to lick it she gets frustrated bc she sees the sock. I hope she doesn't find a way to pull the sock off. Cats are smart.. sometimes way too smart.

So today earlier I went to the room her brothers were hanging out to feed them and she came behind me, they were by the door, when they saw her they RAN and hid, as if she was a monster with a cone around her neck. It was hilarious!!!

The one in the middle is the alpha-male-humping-cat, lol

I call him Cricket, because when he was a tiny kitty he would jump and jump all the time.

The black and white is C.P., he's very sweet, needy and lazy. He loves attention.

They're all siblings, I wonder how come they're all different.

Their mom died when they were about 3 weeks, they were found in our backyard and we've been feeding them ever since. But always leaving them in the outdoors. The problem with that was that more and more feral cats were coming to eat their food. Our landlords wanted to get rid of all of them. That's why I started feeding them inside and then leaving them outside.  I would bring them to sleep in our spare room when the weather was bad.

This picture was taken less than a month ago, during the first blizzard we had where I live.

I am glad you found a place that will neuter for only $60.  You also might ask them in any vouchers are available to help with payment.  Sometimes there is money set aside for those in need.  It wouldn't hurt to ask.  I would get those boys neutered ASAP.  Males recover very very quickly.  They only need 24 hours or less after surgery.  The last feral I trapped, I released in my yard the morning after surgery (about 20 hours after surgery).  He had spent the night in a trap in my basement.  I released him around 8 am and he returned for food at 2pm acting his same normal self.  He even wanted to play with one of the other ferals.  So you really don't need to worry too much about recovery.  Do you plan to keep them inside until you get them neutered?

They are all such sweet looking kittens.  You are doing wonderful things for them.  I hope Jezz is recovering.

Hello there, @ShadowsRescue  ! I am keeping them inside because of the weather but when it's a little warmer I let them go play outside. They are very well behaved and don't spray outside of the litter box, so it's easy for me. They've been spending the night here for over a week now. And they are surprisingly leaving their sister alone and not bothering her at all. I think the E collar discourages them.

As soon as Jezz is completely recovered from her surgery we'll get them neutered. I just don't if I'll get both of them at once or one at a time.

Jezabel is so upset she can't go out to play outside with her brothers... I feel bad for my little princess.
She keeps whining by the door to see if they come back for her.

As for her recovery, she's doing a lot better than I thought she would. She's such a good girl. I think that if the same happened to one of the boys it would've been harder to handle them.

I. :rbheart:Them. Thank you for giving them shelter. Re why they look different is more than likely due to multiple sperm donors. They are beauties!
