You know you're tired when. as soon as you crawl into bed the building fire alarm goes off, and you just turn over and ignore it.

That's what I did yesterday. I was so tired and cold when I got home from work, , that I opened a can of soup and ate it right from the can, and then crawled into bed.  Not 5 minutes later the building fire alarm went off.  I got out of bed, went to the apartment door, felt it for warmth and then cracked it open a bit to see if I saw or smelled smoke. Nadda!    I got back into bed and called the fire department to let them know I was still in my apartment then turned over and snuggled under the covers. The fire alarm rang  for about 45 minutes.  I figured if it was anything, they would come bang on my door and get me!  LOL  It was a false alarm.

I'm glad it was a false alarm and that it wasn't anything serious.

You know what's worse? When the smoke alarm goes off and you don't hear it! We were in bed one night and around 2:00 or so, the smoke alarm in the hallway went off. Rick and Graham jumped out of bed and started roaming through the house, feeling walls, carefully opening doors. They went outside to look for any smoke around the house. They were walking around in the basement, checking on anything and everything.

And me? I was snoring away. Rick was quite upset that I never awakened. He awakened me, saying, "Just in case you're interested, the smoke alarm went off!" He said that I said, "OK" and then I rolled over and went back to sleep. He was very upset. I did awaken when it finally hit me what he did talking about. We were up for about an hour, searching for anything, but nothing was wrong. No sooner did we go back to bed when the alarm went off again. (It was an electric fire alarm, installed when the house was built and it would go off for anything. I came home one morning from grocery shopping, walked in the house, and the alarm was ringing. And every time I'd get out of the shower and open the bathroom door, all the steam in the bathroom would set off the alarm. We replaced it with a battery alarm.)

Rick spent the night on the couch because he was so leery. Me, I went back to bed. And back to sleep.

In fairness to me, though, I had just gotten off my week of third shift and I had been awake for two days....between work and school. So when I finally got the chance to crash.....I crashed.
