Can anyone tell me what it cost them to get their cat allergy tested?

Blood testing around here is about $200 with a $50 office visit- this is reasonable. The vial for injections is about $100 for 6 months or so. Blood testing for food allergies in addition to the standard panel is $375.  It will probably be $350- $450 for the first year. I don't think I want to test for food allergies at this point.

I've heard skin testing is supposed to be more accurate. The closest place wants $175 just for the office visit, plus $200 something for the skin tests and $200 for the injections.  A minimum of $600-800, as the place has all kinds of hidden fees.

I'm leaning towards trying the blood testing and injections as it is drastically cheaper.

I've never had this done, so I'm no help.  Sorry!  Maybe someone else will come along with information.

I'm probably no help, I had my cat tested probably 15 years ago, and my vet was my dad at the time so it didn't cost me all that much.  I did the blood test and we were checking mostly for food allergies.  I do know that skin testing is more accurate.  I really like what this page says about allergy testing: http://www.2ndchance.info/allergytesting.htm  Testing Little Foot for allergies just told us what foods to try and avoid.  It was really difficult back then as even the prescription diets didn't have much in the lines of limited ingredients.

My friend was quoted around $300 for her cat, and I know someone who ended up spending close to $400 for their dog. This is Canadian dollars, and around here vets tend to be expensive.
