My feet have been so dry and itchy, not to mention sore from walking on callouses.. I've been wanting to have a pedicure, but the last place I went would only use a pumice sponge (softer than a pumice stone) on my feet and wouldn't cut my nails because I'm diabetic!

Basically when I left there my feet were smooth but I still have long toe nails and callouses. I could have achieved that myself with a foot file.  A callous is a diabetic's worst enemy when it comes to feet. So I've been doing them myself.

I soaked my feet in nice hot water for about 1/2 hour, then pumiced the heck out of them, did my cuticles and cut my nails, and even exfoliated my lower legs which tend to get ignored in the shower.  Then I slathered them with a nice thick foot cream, and use my Homedic back massager on the bottoms. It would have been so much better if someone else did it so I could relax and enjoy, but my feet feel way better now!

You should try Ped Egg!  SOOOO much better and easier than pumice and no soaking.
I use a foot file that has different sized blades on each side; one course and one smooth.   The "pumice" I use isn't really pumice, it's a rough stone of some kind. It never wears out. http://www.drugstore.com/dr-scholls-pedicure-essentials-exfoliating-stone-file/qxp138601

I actually like soaking my feet when I do a pedicure.  I have in grown nails, so soaking softens the nails and allows me to get the corners that tend to dig in when I put on shows, plus I can exfoliate the whole foot and lower leg.

That sounds nice!  I second a Ped Egg!  I've never soaked before using it but it does help (when I do it. lol).  I usually sit on the couch and watch something on TV while I use it.  I saw something on Facebook for a home pedicure foot soak that involved a bottle of mouthwash.  I was tempted to try it.  Maybe someday; if I find it again.  My feet are awful right now.

I've had one professional pedicure in my life. It was 4 days before my son was born and it was HEAVEN!!  A friend had given me money to go get one as a baby shower gift since he was my 2nd baby.  I still tell her it was the best gift of all!
An equally pregnant friend met me there because I was nervous about having someone mess with my feet.  Funny enough; that morning we went I woke up with swollen feet and ankles for the first time that pregnancy.  The massage felt sooo good on all that!  I ended up spending that afternoon at the hospital being monitored so it really was good timing to go!  I would love to go now; I walk barefoot a lot and my feet became wide and flatter thanks to the pregnancies so they hurt sometimes.  It's just not where I chose to spend money I guess.

I need to take time out and give myself a pedicure. Especially with the cold and my walking; my heels are not in the best of shape. I don't take proper care of my feet at all. My nails grow so quickly (so do my fingernails) and I don't trim them often enough.

My kids gave me a foot spa one year for Christmas. I think I used it once. It's so difficult to take the time to soak my feet because there's always something that needs to be done. I need to take some time out.

I had a Ped Egg and it didn't do much for me.

I need a pedicure badly. I'm not sure why my heels are so dry, it's not like I am on my feet all day.

I had a Bubble Bliss foot spa but only used it a few times. I ended up giving it away to a charity. I just use a basin, much easier than having to pull out an extension cord to plug in a foot spa. Besides, I didn't find the bubbles strong enough to make any difference to my foot pain; in fact I could hardly feel them at all, and the massage was just a vibration which really didn't accomplish much either.

Soaking, using my files and then my Homedic back massager worked wonders.

Your downstairs neighbors might appreciate you not using one of those things if it's like my step-sister's was!  Her bedroom was above the living room and there was NO missing it when she was using it!  I remember coming in the room and asking my Mom "WHAT is THAT NOISE!?"
