BF "handled" Oliver last night (if you know what I'm sayin') and determined [spoiler alert] they were empty.

Glad we got that all resolved.

Haha, so it's just there for decoration. They say you learn something new everyday!

My last two male cats (one stray, one inherited) showed up at my door with no testicles whatsoever. We knew one of them was definitely male, but it took some searching and confirmation by the vet to find out that the stray was male. Some vets do and some vets don't?

The male kitten I had I ONLY knew for sure when he was born and first few weeks.  He has a TINY peepee(not sure if anything will get censored)  Some REALLY are harder to tell.  Imagine that cold may make it harder too.  And the kitten/cat I had is a lovebug who does not care what you are doing so MUCH harder for a cat not used to handling.

I have never seen Oliver's... uh... cherry stem. Just see the cherries. They've got internal genitalia, yes? If not, they must have removed more than just the testicles...

Yeah it is in a sheath. You normally will not see it unless cat has urinary issue and it may poke/be irratated from over cleaning as they may be trying to lick pain away or if cleaning it.

Only time penis is removed would be a cat who has ongoing urinary issues and they take it out in last ditch effort so that the opening is large enough to allow urine to pass more freely and also some of the sand/tiny crystals.  I had cat where that was discussed but he was pretty sick by then so recovery chances were not to hot and money was issue.  I

The genitala are not really inside but when they are not "in use" they are pretty small (think human male in very cold surroundings like ocean water or  -shiver-  snow and ice) and almost completely retracted. But there will always be a small bump accompanied with the empty scrotum which you may very well miss. With all the fur in that area it would be very easy to think that there is nothing there at all. So if you have not seen his "cherry stem" (oh please, it's his penis!!!) you are not alone. Unless your boy has had a really bad problem it's still there and it's pink and covered with fur.

Yes he can be neutered at 4 months but this must be done by a vet

Huh, most dogs I've seen have had them removed completely (not that I go around looking...) Maybe it varies by region?
Dogs shrink up way more than cats. Since all the neutered male dogs I'd seen had nothing back there, I was surprised when my dog's sack was still there, and looking pretty nasty too :lol3:. But it shrunk up quickly and now he's got nothing going on in back. So in most cases I think it just shrunk up a lot, although some people do have a scrotal ablation done. But it's a much larger incision and more prone to infection than a regular neuter.

This has to be a misunderstanding over the written word surely?

Yes, your cat can be neutered. You ask if you can neuter your kitten and if you mean you yourself do it then the answer is an emphatic no.  That would be barbaric unless you are a vet.

If you do not have the money, please try to borrow some or try a rescue place that will do them for free of cut-price and perhaps think about trying to get some insurance for your pet for the future. Cat's can get sick and you need to plan sensibly for that possibility.

I am really  hoping this poster is asking can it be done as opposed to going for a check up and being told no.

Call up local vets and ask what they charge and if they know of low cost options/what they cost.  Some places you can find it for free or 25-50 range.

Are you saying you want to do this yourself? No way!!!! This is SURGERY!!!! Find a low cost clinic or talk to the vet, some do it for free. It is not likely that this young kitten is spraying. Watch when he does it. If he squats he's just peeing, if he lifts his rear end against some vertical object like a wall or door then he is spraying, marking his territory.
