Oliver is neutered, yet he still has testicles... or the sack at least. ANYWAY, I'm only posting this because I cracked a joke that referenced this and BF got all up in arms about how it's not possible, since he's been neutered. I've shown him said genitalia and he's claiming there's no way he's possibly been neutered. "If he's still got balls," BF writes (despite having seen them with his own eyes), "somebody screwed up because he is going to act exactly like an intact tomcat except he won't be able to impregnate anything."

Yea, we're clearly having that issue, as he lounges around all day being lazy and non-aggressive.

Just because Oliver has been neutered does not mean he won't try to be "affectionate", that does not go away, same goes for female cats, although it will be much less pronounced. Most of them will just let out their desire to be sweet and affectionate on their owners, how lucky can we get? Females won't be in heat anymore and the boys won't be so insistent to go outside and sing, they are also so much less likely to spray to mark their territory as there is no need for that.

My black cat appeared to be a female because there were no obvious signs and his color made it hard to see. But one touch below his tail and towards his belly indicated that he was indeed a boy, although with a shrunken scrotum with no testicles inside.

Your boyfriend is a dope who does not know aht he is talking about. Let the vet talk to him.

Haha. Indeed. I adopted Oliver after he was neutered. He's not particularly affectionate. He doesn't do that thing many cats do, with the rubbing of their face on ankles. But he'll occasionally attempt to groom me, which I consider to be very sweet. And he's a lap cat, so that's wonderful.

Maybe he's used to seeing dogs? With dogs the whole thing gets removed and there's just a little scar down there.

Actually not, dogs are the same as cats just the testicles are removed unless a scrotal ablation is performed as well.

I thought that neutering these days involved just some snip-snip to the tubing, but leaving the testicles themselves intact. Are the testicles actually removed and just the scrotal sac is left behind? Is that why they look so small as compared to a lion's like they show on the Discovery Channel? Of course, I mean in relation to their own body size. We ALL know lions have bigger juevos than a house cat!

Here, they remove the testes.

Sorry if anyone is offended by the rear end of a cat (don't scroll down) but here is a pic of Rhys just before his snip. He had little fuzzy grapes, which are no more View media item 198645

Awww, what a cute face! ROFL, it looks like he's looking toward his nether region, wishing he could keep them! I'm not that good with many specific cat breeds. Is he a Scottish fold or a Ragamuffin?

He is indeed a Fold. My avatar is a more recent pic, where he is once again displaying his goods. lt seems to be a habit

I've been looking at my boy's behind all day.  His neuter doesn't look anything like this!
Maybe I'll try to snap a pic.

My Simba likes to put his good on display, as well, especially after a stressful day.

Huh, most dogs I've seen have had them removed completely (not that I go around looking...) Maybe it varies by region?
Remember those "neuticals" that guy came out with a while ago? :lol3: Definitely a guy thing to be worried about.

If they only cut the tubes, while he would be unable to procreate, his testosterone levels would remain unchanged, and thus aggression and marking and the wooing of the ladies would continue... just fruitlessly.

Ah, okay. I guess that's why humans keep their testicles and only get snipped, due to the hormone changes afterward.

Thank goodness for this thread! We just got John Jacob fixed last week and weren't sure what to expect. lol. He pretty much looks like the pic at the top. Since he's acting normal, we didn't want to call the vet and just ask what his __ should look like

Keep in mind cats neutered early before the testicles have had a chance to really stretch the scrotum tend to be teeny in end but the late neuters will usually be bigger.  I have all my kittens done at 8 weeks and have had rescued males off street done as late as 10 yo.  They do not shrink much.  1 of my kittens the techs had hard time telling if it was male or female.  The medically held back neuter(8 months or so) is ALOT easier and is sibling to the girly looking one:p

I have found a cat and could not tell besides physically squishing the sac.  I also have taken in a semi feral for a neuter and got the call he was neutered already.
