I adopted a kitten at 10 weeks old. She had magnificent long over eye whiskers when I brought her home. They all seemed to have fallen off, all at once, but only over her rt eye at approx 16 weeks old. Her other eye is as whiskery as ever. She is an indoor cat and the only pet in the home and there are no kids. On occassion she appears to blink her rt eye as if it is bothering her but I have never seen her scratch it. No discharge is present. She is not a sporty kitten but more of a prisy gal so I doubt they got rubbed off in sport.

I am very concerned but money is a tad tight and if I can avoid going to the vet that would be great. Does this sound like anything you all are familiar with? Thank you so much in advance

Has she been rubbing the eye a lot? If she's squinting then she might have scratched it. She will need eye drops from the vet.

My kitty was very young when she started squinting. We thought nothing of it for months. We took notice when she decided to just keep it shut. We took her to the vet and discovered she had entropion and needed surgery. Entropion is when the eyelid turns in and rubs on the eye.

I just noticed all my cats have one side that has more eye whiskers than the other and I have let say many more than just one cat. I never noticed it before until you wrote what you did. Some have more defined ones on the left and some on the right. I may be imagining things maybe someone else can chime in. This may be normal. I had a cat with the turned in eyelids and that definitely causes eye discharge doesn't sound you are reporting any of that.

Na no rubbing at all and I am home with her a great deal. hmmmm Considering both issues are with the same eye I am assuming they are related. She is quite the lopsided kitty at the moment.

My cat never had any discharge before entropion surgery.

I think she needs a vet check and get the dye test just to see what is up. You don't want to let eye problems get out of control. She's a cutie!

It could be that she has something in her eye that the vet needs to rinse out.

I would recommend a visit to the Veterinarian.  It sounds like something is definitely going on with that eye.
