My cat has an injury on his front left paw?

Yesterday we called my cat inside and discovered he had an injury on his paw right above one of his toes. He was limping, but he could walk (he didn't want any pressure on the paw though). It's pretty small, but it's kind of deep and round. It was bleeding when he came in but now (one day later, my mom said to leave it) it's just white. I'm worried aabout it getting infected, what should I do?

Sorry I can't really see the injury. Last year when I found my John Jacob he has an injured paw and the vet had to drain it and gave him antibiotics.

If you click on the image and then use the zoom tool you can see a round wound which does look quite deep. It is important to keep this clean until a vet can get a look at this. It could be a puncture from something he caught his paw on, or from another animal. If left untreated, it could become infected. I would make arrangements to get your kitty into see a vet as soon as you are able to.

Of course he's a boy only the boys get in trouble. We had a feral female for 10+ years who wasn't fixed for a couple years till I could catch her and she never hurt herself she was outside for the most part of her life except at winter time she would go in our basement at the end of her life before she dissapeared and took off she finally came into the house.
