One of my cats has some unusual markings, including a large black spot on his face. I think he is gorgeous, and I picked him because I thought that his markings were adorable. However, some other people don't agree, and they are very rude about it. Some friends and family members have asked what is wrong with him, why he has that "thing" on his face, etc. One of them said it looks like he has a "male body part" on his face (he said it in a much more vulgar way). Of course, my kitty does not understand what they are saying, but it does bother me. It is like they are making fun of my child. Can anyone relate?

By the way, I hope what I said is okay. I tried to censor it.

I'm sorry people are so rude to you about your cat's markings. I haven't had that experience, though I've only owned this one cat -- a brown tabby that looks exactly like a million other brown tabbies. I adore my little Oliver, but I think it would be wonderful to have a cat with unique markings. I understand that it can be hurtful to hear people make negative comments and call him names, but do try to just dismiss them... your cat is special, whether they think so or not.

Also, you should post a pic. I'm sure plenty of people here will appreciate his unique look.

Thanks, I would like to post some pics and have several on my phone but have never been able to figure out how to upload them to the website. Some people on this site have tried to help, but it still did not work.

Well I have to say you have me curious......any pics of your kitty that sounds to me like he is being bullied?

There are people out there that simply don't like cats, and to them I say 'Your loss!'. If anyone comes to my house insults or teases my cat in any way, they are given a HUGE warning if they ignore are not welcome to come back, I make this clear. If you disrespect Maia, you are disrespecting me. I would definitely speak up and let them know, especially family! That is so rude!

One of the beautiful things about cats is that they come in all shapes, sizes, colorings, hair lengths as well as hairless.

What I do to get pics from my phone to here is I use the share/messaging feature on my phone from the image page to email the image to myself. Just like I am sending a text message. Then I download the image to my computer in a folder for pics of Oliver. Then uploading to here is just clicking the pic icon and searching for Oliver's pic folder.

I load pics from my phone by emailing them to myself, then download from email to computer file. Then when u click on insert image icon, upload image, it lets you go to whatever file
. Maybe old school method, but it works

There is no such thing as an "ugly cat". Anyone that would say so regarding my cat would not be welcome in my home anymore. It's not anyone that I would care to know. Yes, stand up for your kitty....he can't do it himself. *hugs*

That's what I was going to say. Exactly how I do it. I emailed the picture to me, then save it on my computer. Then re-size and sharpen a wee bit (my phone does not take good pictures at all), upload to my web site, and post.

Your kitty sounds a bit unique (and I mean that with respect, honest) and I'd love to see some pictures.

We have a split-faced tortie (Ms. Pepe)and people used to make comments about her. Used to. A few choice words from me and it stopped quickly. Pepe is truly a beautiful cat.

l know exactly how you feel. l have a strange-looking cat, he's a Cornish Rex, and they are admittedly an acquired taste.

This is him when he was young in a particularly unflattering pose:

l submitted a pic similar to this one to my work. They post our family and pet pics around the buildings. They put it up outside the offices and someone complained about it and asked for it to be removed!! l was incredibly hurt.

Even now, l have a FB page for one of my other cats and his littermates. Their owners post to this page so we can stay in touch throughout our cats' lives. l posted this Christmas pic of Bretten:

And this is a copy & paste quote from one of the owners:  Good lord, it looks like Alien...

Nice huh?

Winchester, It's funny you should mention a split-faced kitty. My other cat (NOT the one that gets picked on) kind of has a split-face too. There is a line right down the center of her face. One side is orange and the other gray. She is what I guess you would call a "torbie." She is basically a gray tabby with orange speckled throughout. She has a patch of orange stripes on one of her legs, and a white belly with brown and gray splotches. Her paw pads are all different colors too, with some split. Surprisingly, no one has ever made fun of her--just my other poor kitty. Your Pepe does sound like a pretty kitty.

Andrya, the Cornish Rex kitty looks adorable too. He reminds me of a cute little E.T. (I love that movie) Why would someone want the picture taken down?

When my laptop charges, I am going to try and upload the pictures from there. Wish me luck!

I think your Cornish Rex is cute.  For me the Sphynx was an acquired taste, at first I thought they were ugly but now I think they are cute in their own way.  Some people are just rude, nothing that can be done about it, they are what they are.  The thing is before the Sphynx grew on me and I thought they were ugly I would never tell someone that about their Sphynx.  There is such a thing as being too honest, hence the expression brutally honest.

I always thought Ms Pepe was a beautiful tortie, I love her split face.  She looks like a real tortie.

No I can't relate but I would reconsider who are your friends.  Anybody who can knock your kitty for it's markings aren't really good friends.  Next time someone says anything negative about your kitty,  just tell them to shut up or leave your home.  As you said, they are our babies and if people are insulting your kitties, they are insulting you as well.

I can totally relate to this ! I have a Sphynx cat called Cairo ( see my avatar pic )

So you can imagine the comments and rude remarks he gets from people.

The look of horror on their faces when they first see him. What annoys me the most is when they say " I couldn't live with a thing like that in my house"

I had one woman that accused me of cruelty for shaving him.
A few people have asked when will he grow his fur back

There is no such thing as an ugly cat. Just people who have ugly mouth's. Tell them you don't need to hear their opinions as they are hurtful.

If they keep it up, tell them to leave until they know how to act in another persons' house. Family or not.
sending you some positive vibes in

dealing with this..

I'm sure your kitty is beautiful and unique. I agree you should stand up for him and put the rude people in their place. I don't like cursing or being vulgar in public(haha well not in private either, you know what I mean) however I think if someone said something rude about my cats I'd probably go down the spiral with a sassy potty mouth reply

You can email pics to me at Abbysmom @ Thecatsite.com. Just remove the spaces. :)
