Introducing our new kitten Jingles. We had all these great names for a black cat and in the end our grandaughter said "I think we should name her Jingles". Why not? So Jingles it is, which works for a he or a she since we aren't sure of the sex yet.

I had heard what I thought was a catbird when I was walking the dog in the morning, by the time DH got home and walked the dog in the afternoon he heard constant crying, so we went over manned with a hoe to get through the brush. Out popped a totally black kitten. We were done for right there.

The vet estimated 3.5-4 weeks of age, she weighed 4 ounces. We have three other cats and the dog. I haven't seen the senior cats move like they have been with the kitten nipping at their back legs and trying to get their tales. They smack her down and she she thinks about it for a micro-second, and whacks back.

I was worried about getting too attached when she was so small, so much can happen, but she's doing well. She has truly cast a spell on us.

Adorable! I wonder how she ended up in your yard?

Sometimes I think cats must be able to sense a cat-loving person from miles away. This one certainly found herself a person! Keep taking photos as she grows. I think she's going to be beautiful.

She was in an empty lot next door to our house in FL, so kittens are a year round thing. Our vet thinks something may have happened to the mother for the kitten to be left alone so long,

We could have used a machete instead of a hoe to get to her, empty lots are like jungles here. There's no way I would have gone in there, I'm happy DH is fearless. There are an amazing amount of hawks here and while being black is a good camouflage, those hawks have amazing sight.

I'm glad we found her, I've quit questioning why things happen, they just do.

She is absolutely adorable!

I see that you are in SW Florida --- we're located in Naples. Where are you in SW FL. Curious, as I don't think there are too many Floridians on TCS
