After searching forever I found a little bite I guess on the top of his tail. It looks like a hole.

I've put warm water with salt in it but its warm to the touch. Does that mean its not drained. He has survived much worse when he was way younger he had s grub on his head that fell out at healed. Will this heal the same way. Hes better moving more still limping a little. Hopefully he comes through this. I'm praying he will. After this I plan on getting him fixed and such. Its just money is a huge issue. The places that do it for less require you to be on food stamps and such. I can't get them. I live with my parents. He's sleeping now. But will compress him again later.

Keep an eye on it, if it doesnt drain it can cause nasty probs. My cat had a bite on his face and it swelled up quicky because it healed over, which I hear is very common. He had to have it drained at the vets and some antibiotics - he also had some dead skin cut away because we didn't notice straight away (we only saw the bite the day before his face blew up). I was shocked how bad he got so quick.   Would you be able to take him to the vet and just see if they will give antibiotics and some tips to drain it to keep the costs right down? Abscess need to heal from the inside out so got to keep them open. Do you have a regular vet you could chat to and explain the situation?  I much prefer vets to do the work, but there are tips on abscess online, but please if it doesn't work relatively quickly then I think the vet would be your only solution. You don't want the cat to develop septicemia, it would cost a lot more to sort out and may even be lethal.  Good luck to you both. Hugs

Keep trying to bathe the hole you found in his tail with warm salt water. Do this as often as you can. It's warm to touch because its infected. Hopefully if you keep up with the salt water it will heal itself.
Good luck and keep us updated on how he's getting on

I had my mom look at it tonight and she said I'm getting paranoid and making things more than they are she said he doesn't feel much warmer than normal and that it looks like its draining. I cleaned it with salt water compresses earlier for a half hour. He's still using the litter box and eating like normal. And I am giving him more wet food than normal a can a day. He's also meowing more and trying to be more active and still wanting to go outside. I guess those are good signs? I think this will just take time. I'm not a patient person.

I have used hydrogen peroxide and a vet recommended it, you can also use1/20 diluted herbicleanse for wounds that are very tender like burns. You are on the right track....
My vet told me never to use this because it damages healthy skin. Seems quite a few conflicting thoughts on HP.

He is up more today. And being his vocal self more. He is still hopping a little but seems to be doing better. He's still sleeping a lot but its cold out and snowing. He has gone to the door and meowed to be left out but doesn't get to. After finding that abscess and cleaning it he is like another cat really wish I found it sooner. Now when I go to peak my head in if he has his eyes closed he meows at me.

Emlliverpool, I was trying to explain it as best I could several days ago. That cat bites always become infected, it's just that way.

I was also explaining that if you are not able to get him to a vet for oral antibiotics, then you MUST keep an antibiotic ointment on the wound at all times, this is for a reason, it will keep it moist so it is able to drain, as well as help topically to fight off the infection.

Salt washes, hydrogen peroxide, they will not be able to do this, they would possibly help for that moment, but are unable to keep it moist and bacteria free until it fully heals.

I also suspect he has a bite on his leg he is limping on, it's been long enough for a twisted leg or whatever, type injury to heal itself unless of course it is badly hurt, but the limping may be caused by another bite.

Just be sure to examine it very well and a couple times a day.

I am trying hard to get you to understand, that unless you do not keep ointment on it, there is a much greater chance he will get sick and it can come down to life or death without vet care.

To attempt to avoid that whole thing, please go get some polysporin or other triple antibiotic ointment and keep it soft with this continuously.

If he licks it off, put more on, if it  is allowed to get dry and scab up, you will be right back to square one, and we don';t want to see that happen.

I get that and am doing that. I have looked all over his leg and paw. Tonight he is running all over the house and won't go to sleep he is quite active. And seems to be back to his normal self.

There are some vets out there still that care enough to do a payment plan for the low income people. Please call around and ask. Obviously you have a computer to google your area for Noah and other helpful places.

My cat had a abscess 3 months ago from my other cat biting her tail as she ran by in play. ( but my male is play aggressive anyways) It did end up costing me 450.00. The initial visit was 375.00. But this is the cost of having a animal just as if  you had a child. Its a shame that vets aren't more helpful with the pay plans like our humane doctors offices are. But your cat does need to be helped. A office visit 40.00 bucks then you can decide after the vet tells you whats up, what you want to do and can afford. Just try

Your cat needs to go to a vet! Do not give him any human medications.

My indoor cat had a fight with a feral i had TNRed. He was very lazy the next day and the vet said not to worry. The next day I brought him in! It is very hard to see bite marks under the fur of a cat. She had bitten him about 5 times and he had a big infection in his ear. They drained it and gave him a three week anti biotic. Please take you cat to the vet! One never knows how these home made solutions work.

How long ago was he hurt? Can you see any bite marks, cuts, swelling? If it was several days ago he may be developing an abscess, which is very common in cat fights. He will have a very sore, swollen area. After about a week it will burst and drain. A wound cleansing spray would be helpful to clean the area and keep the wound open to drain. My ferals get these quite often and I can't take them to a vet, so I get an antibiotic from the vet to give them which I put in tuna juice and that helps tremendously. But since you don't know for sure how he got hurt, it could even be a broken bone. He really should see a vet if you can't diagnose for sure what is wrong. He needs a quiet place for now and plenty of water and food. I wish you well.
