Hi everyone,

About 4-5 days ago on Sunday night, Dexter woke up and vomited, ok so I got up a cleaned it. He came back to bed and then about 1 hour later vomited again. I thought maybe a hairball or something. Same thing 1 hour later then backto bed.

I went to work the next day and came home and h was fine, playing, eating, etc.. That night while sleeping in bed, same thing, vomit..sleep vomit..etc.

The next morning we went to the vet, he got examined and blood tests, everything is ok and they can't see any other symptoms.

I watched for (Runny nose, eyes, lathargy, not eating, not peeing, not pooping, odd behaivior (other than vomit) and nothng seems off, once he vomits he goes back to be perfectly himself.

So I have come to a few options.

1. The bag of food could be bad, I will replace it tonight but we have another cat and she is just fine.

2. Something is upsetting his stomach like a visrus or partial block, would need a ultra sound to tell.

3. MY GUESS. About 5-6 days before he started to vomit we bought a memory foam bed topper made of latex & polyurithane at costco. Now..He sleeps on the bed every night, and it's at night time I notice the most vomiting (3 times/night), he then comes back to bed and the cycle repeats. In the evening when we are watching TV, he is there with us and is fine with no vomitig (or rare). I was home with him in the living room for 8 hours without incodent. Yet we go to bed, and the cycle begins.

This morning I put the memory foam topper in storage and aired out all rooms.

Does anyone have similar experiences or can offer some advise?

Thank you

I don't know for sure, but he might have a latex allergy? If putting away the topper stops his vomiting you'll know for sure. It does seem strange he only does it at night. Only doing what you are doing, eliminating suspected allergens will figure out what it is. I can't really offer advise, but I'll wish you all the luck!

It's always possible it's an allergy to the new bed topper, so it's good to test that theory. I also wonder what his feeding schedule is? The night time only vomiting makes me wonder if it's excess stomach acid build up?

I wonder if the bed topper has a treatment on it that's giving off fumes? Sometimes these new things do smell a bit strange - but saying that I guess the vomiting would be getting better as it wears off rather than start 4-5 days later. Be interesting to see how he gets on with you taking the topper off.

I would try different food. And if it's a bag, would it be possible that he's not getting on with dried food? Has he started eating it too quick, too much or anything? Dried food always makes my cat vomit and I never even gave it to him too often. Worth trying him on some wet? Better for them anyway imho.

I hope you find out what's causing it soon, good luck!

It's easy to know now since it is put away now.

Here is my experience.

My cat has always slept next to me, from day one of her life, and that's how it has been since, never missed a night.

But suddenly she would NOT stay on the bed, it actually hurt my feelings, I thought something was wrong, kept putting her back up, no matter what, she would NOT stay on my bed.

The final time during that night that I put her back on the bed, I sort of held her in my arms and she fell asleep. I was woke with her vomiting on my new down comforter!

Ahah! That was it, it was that comforter. I had to wash it twice to get the starchy/new feeling away, and as soon as it was gone, no more problems.

So it's certainly possible he is sensitive to the topper.

If the vomiting does stop now that it's away, try it again but cover it well with lots of padding, unused blankets, the further it is away from his body and breath, the better.

At least you might be able to use your topper again!

Just a quick update.

Last night was much better. he was fine and slept until about 4:30 am, got up and vomited a tiny amount of liquid then came back to bed and was fine for the night.

I prey this is a good sign.
